What is most valuable?

We like the wire once approach. We've had to do very little maintenance on the backend connectivity components. We really have been able to basically leave our fiber and Ethernet connections alone. I think in our ten years on two BladeSystem enclosures, we've done one infield upgrade, to raise our capacity limits on Ethernet and fiber channel. But really, the... more»

What needs improvement?

We had a lot of work to do from a management perspective as an administrator to ensure that we had the correct firmware and driver levels, and things like that, between servers. HPE fixed that when they introduced the service pack for ProLiant. OneView has expanded the idea of server profiles and added some additional management ease - including the ability to... more»

What is most valuable?

Previously, the physical trappings of Cisco UCS, Intel chip-sets and UCS Manager were the most useful part of this server system. As we embrace new Intel CPU's, Chip-sets and memory, we are gaining added value from the original UCS design -... more»

How has it helped my organization?

I have a client who is currently managing 1500 servers with two people for a mission-critical retail operation. Previous operations teams using HP and IBM servers required 4x more people to manage the same number of servers.

What needs improvement?

This product comes from Cisco, who is fourth in the worldwide supply chain. That means options take a bit longer to get to their platform, as they insist on doing their own quality validations. Right now, the market is rapidly transitioning... more»

What is most valuable?

In the data center, you see customers with a lot of blade enclosures and a lot of servers, and this solution works fine. I have one customer in Belgium that I know that is testing it, and they're quite happy about it. There are some challenges, but it is software. For software, you have developers. The hardware is there.

What needs improvement?

With the changing IT demands, they need to change more often and faster. We need applications to model tomorrow’s needs. We need more applications for changing users. There is a need for a more optimized infrastructure. For instance, I have a customer with 20 blade enclosures. In those 20 blade enclosures, there are 40 management modules that you need to update... more»

What do you think of Lenovo Blade Servers [EOL]?

Valuable Features The features of this product that I value most are: A datacenter in 8U; you can accommodate 14 servers in a BladeCenter H chassis. Total redundancy in all its components: power, cooling, communications, fiber, administration and blades Stacking features, you can configure several BladeCenters to have redundancy Excellent support in case of any failure (and I am not saying this because I worked for IBM) One point of management The ability to combine Intel, AMD, and POWER blades • Use of Solution I have been using, installing, and implementing this solution for eight years. • Deployment Issues I had no problems installing the equipment. • Stability Issues So far, I have had no stability problems. • Scalability Issues If we talk about...

What do you think of Intel MFSYS25?

Valuable Features Hyper V was the best option in case of server fail-over & Storage option was the best with the VD pools assigned to the server modules • Improvements to My Organization We have improved a lot, and our customers are very satisfied with the product. We're able to set-up multiple VLANs in it. I think that Intel shouldn't have stopped the production of this product. • Room for Improvement I would have like to see them continue it with more disk options in the chassis so in the future we wouldn't need to buy another device for the storage. • Stability Issues There is one regular error which irritates me during production hours. It continually gives us COMPONENT UNFIT ERROR. To fix it, we have to remove and re-fix the blades modules. • Customer...

What is most valuable?

* Fault-Tolerance * Availability * Performance

How has it helped my organization?

It helps us to keep the business running 24/7. Our client is a bank and we need to run the show continuously. Availability is the key factor along with fault-tolerance. The system/application should be fault proof to withstand... more»

What needs improvement?

I would like to see better scalability. I would like see them make it easier to port other applications in a plug-and-play manner.
