What is most valuable?

There are many great aspects to the product. It's flexible. It's possible to have it on a universal CPE. The CPE is a small server or device that can be installed on the client's premises which the FlexVNF software can be installed onto. It doesn't have to be a vendor-specific CPE. This can help… more»

What needs improvement?

The support needs to be improved. The interface does still need enhancements to make it even easier to operate in the future. They have complicated policies that need to be applied.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In the end, it's not only about cost. A lot of big enterprises don't care about the cost. They care about having a single point of contact to take care of their security and internet routing optimization. Having one support ultimately reduces costs, as there would only be one maintenance contract… more»

What other advice do I have?

We have a lifetime implementation. We're using the latest version of the solution. It's a good product for high-end and large enterprises, but smaller enterprises might not be a good fit. I'd just advise that especially surrounding the initial setup, a new company needs to ensure they have the right… more»

What is most valuable?

As per the solution's blade design, there are many options. For example, you have to buy a UTM blade and an advanced malware blade, etc. If the blade license is there, we can configure from the firewall GUI. The net policy and routing are… more»

What needs improvement?

If you compare the GUI with the Palo Alto and Cisco, they're very easy. Check Point, due to its design, is a little bit complex. They should make the GUI easy to use so that anyone can understand it, like Fortinet's GUI. Many companies end… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to Cisco Firepower Threat Defense, the solution is cheap. However, not as cheap as Fortinet or Palo Alto. If clients have smaller budgets, we would have to advise one of those instead.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am currently also working on Cisco ASA, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.

What other advice do I have?

There are two deployment model modes in Check Point. One is a gateway level and one is a no gateway all-in-one box solution. With the gateway level, only hardware will be there, all operating systems are stored in a VMware and if there are… more»

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the Dynamic Multipath Optimization (DMPO), which allows the customer to maintain and monitor their link quality in real-time. It will tell them whether the performance is good, bad, or degrading. This solution… more»

What needs improvement?

VeloCloud needs improvement in terms of its security features. It needs to work with third-party vendors such as Fortinet, Check Point, or Palo Alto because at an increasing rate, and because of new rules for compliance, organizations… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of this solution is higher than that of other SD-WAN vendors.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also work with Forcepoint SD-WAN and we have tried other solutions as well. Some of these include Riverbed and Fortinet. One of the big differences between VeloCloud and the other vendors is the speed and ease of deployment. VeloCloud is… more»

What other advice do I have?

We have been using multiple versions of this solution. We have been using the software as well as different Edge devices including the Edge 510 series and the Edge 520 series. The 510 series is the most common one. Most of the deployments… more»

What is most valuable?

This Palo Alto firewall is easy to manage. You just implement it and forget about it. The Panorama management tool is very easy to use. The documentation is good.

What needs improvement?

The partner support, which is a local company, is not that good and can be improved. I would like to see the threat intelligence capability integrated with other vendors such as Cisco and Forcepoint. This would effectively be a multi-threat… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This is an expensive solution, although you will get value for the price.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with similar products from several vendors including Cisco, Juniper, Forcepoint, and Fortinet.

What other advice do I have?

Palo Alto is the leader in next-generation firewalls. The suitability of it, however, depends on the design, throughput, and the number of sessions. Overall, this is a very simple and very effective firewall, and I am satisfied with it. I… more»
