Scalable and has a good URL filtering feature, but its interface isn't easy to use, and the technical support is bad
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature for me in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is URL filtering, though all other features of the product are okay as well."
  • "A room for improvement in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is the support it offers. It's very bad. What I'd like to see in the next release of the product is for it to be less complicated because at the moment Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is more complicated than other products. Sometimes issues come up that you can't solve without the support team. For example, you should write the root password to fix the issue. In the next release of the product, it would be good if it had an easy-to-use interface. Troubleshooting issues in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway should be less complicated as well."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature for me in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is URL filtering, though all other features of the product are okay as well.

What needs improvement?

A room for improvement in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is the support it offers.

Troubleshooting issues in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway should be less complicated as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been dealing with Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway for about two years now. My company doesn't use the product. It's the customers who use Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is a scalable product.

How are customer service and support?

We had to contact Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway technical support because some of the features didn't work, but it took them a long time to respond. Sometimes, even if you call support many times, they will not respond. In the end, they weren't able to solve our issues. We solved the issues ourselves.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway isn't easy. When you compare it to Fortinet, it's very complicated.

For example, for Fortinet FortiProxy, you don't need to install the database or SQL, and there's no need to prepare a server. You also don't need to do a lot of authentication because it's only one appliance, so it will work via proxy, then you can do the installation.

For Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway, you need two servers: one for installing the management software and the second server for SQL, and only then can you control the appliance.

The initial setup for Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is complicated, especially when compared to Fortinet FortiProxy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In terms of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway pricing, I'm not part of the sales team. I'm on the technical team, so I don't have information on the price.

What other advice do I have?

I work for an IT company that provides solutions to customers such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, Forcepoint, and GoSecure. In terms of Forcepoint, my company focuses on web security, particularly Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway.

My company has enterprise customers who use the product.

The number of users of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway varies. One customer has around six hundred users. Another customer has three hundred users then there's a customer in the banking industry that has a thousand users.

My advice to others looking into implementing Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is to prepare a lab and create scenarios in the lab before going to the customers.

My rating for the solution is seven out of ten.

Offers robust web security features and excellent stability
Pros and Cons
  • "SWG allows me to track internet usage patterns, helping optimize bandwidth and understand how much time each employee spends online."
  • "I would suggest focusing on improving the GUI's stability, especially when implementing new filters or patches."

What is our primary use case?

I use Forcepoint SWG to monitor and control my employees' internet usage for both security and productivity reasons.

What is most valuable?

What I like about Forcepoint SWG is that I can ensure that employees access only appropriate websites, protecting the organization from malicious threats. Moreover, SWG allows me to track internet usage patterns, helping optimize bandwidth and understand how much time each employee spends online.

What needs improvement?

In terms of improvement, some of my clients find that certain security details could be enhanced in Forcepoint SWG. Additionally, I would suggest focusing on improving the GUI's stability, especially when implementing new filters or patches. Occasionally, there are issues with crashes during these updates, and smoother transitions would greatly enhance the user experience.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Forcepoint SWG for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of the solution as a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Forcepoint SWG is scalable and can handle organizations with over 100,000 users. Additionally, through multiple deployments and clustering, it can scale even further, making it well-suited for medium to enterprise-level companies.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate Forcepoint's technical support as a nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for Forcepoint SWG is straightforward and user-friendly. The basic configuration is not very complicated, and you can have the solution deployed in a day. However, when it comes to more advanced configurations or customer-specific enhancements, it can get a bit complex. While the initial steps are smooth, customization might require more effort and expertise.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I would rate the affordability of Forcepoint SWG as a two out of ten. It is relatively expensive. While some other products, such as firewalls and application firewalls, offer similar functionalities, they might be more cost-effective. However, the specific web security features provided by Forcepoint contribute to its high price.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate Forcepoint SWG as a ten out of ten.

Good web security, reliable, and is a pretty simple solution
Pros and Cons
  • "It's stable and reliable."
  • "The initial setup can be complex."

What is our primary use case?

It protects against data leaks and offers us application security.

What is most valuable?

The solution is a combination of Gatsby web security and the LP. That is why we are pushing Forcepoint ONE. Forcepoint ONE is a product itself that Forcepoint has been recently pushing to the customers.

The product is simple.

It's stable and reliable.

What needs improvement?

They will require a combination of other brands and other products that actually caters to the data leak portion. Forcepoint ONE, for example, covers for the data leak itself, however, it's just data leaks. In order to have comprehensive security protection for your data, you will need other products, like data encryption. You will need privileged access management and endpoint security to make the Forcepoint product more robust.

The initial setup can be complex.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for about three years. The company I work for has been working with it for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

If you are looking for just data leaks and web security, the product itself should suffice, however, if you want to make your solution or your cyber portion more robust, then you will require other products to be embedded as well to work hand in hand, for your information to be more secure.

How are customer service and support?

Being the distributor for Forcepoint, we have our own engineers to cover from day zero to day two in terms of engineering support for deployment and forming payments and also for troubleshooting. We do leverage Forcepoint, however, we have our own in-house engineers to assist Forcepoint to cover the clinical aspect.

How was the initial setup?

In terms of the policy, the initial setup can be complex.

The solution is simple, however, the complexity comes when you are writing the policy for the data leak part. Even web security is all policy. You would need to translate your business requirements into cyber security requirements so that basically whatever policy that is being in place, covers your business requirements for your cyber footprint.

What about the implementation team?

We help our customers or partners deploy the solution.

What other advice do I have?

We are the authorized distributor for Forcepoint in Asia-Pacific.

Currently, we are pushing Forcepoint ONE into the market.

The thing to consider at the outset is, basically, what they want to protect. Are you protecting internal factors or are you looking at protecting from external factors? Forcepoint DLP covers the internal factor, meaning that you do not want your data to be compromised from internal leaks, and not external. If you're looking to protect against external anomalies, then basically it's Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway that you should be looking at.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

A stable and scalable solution that helps with DLP and POS protection
Pros and Cons
  • "The tool categorizes the user profiles which is very comfortable."
  • "The product needs to have more mobility."

What is our primary use case?

We use the product for DLP and POS protection.

What is most valuable?

The tool categorizes the user profiles which is very comfortable.

What needs improvement?

The product needs to have more mobility.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the product for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the tool's stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution's scalability is good and my company has 1000 users for it. I would rate the tool's scalability an eight out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

The product's setup is straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's price is good.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product a nine out of ten.

Reliable and highly detailed but needs more customization
Pros and Cons
  • "This is a highly detailed product with very good key features."
  • "I'd like to see the solution improve the banded optimization to offer more bandwidth control, similar to what is on offer with Blue Coat."

What is our primary use case?

I've done a few deployments with roaming user filtering and with central management consoles on the content creation and on different critical locations.

What is most valuable?

The DLP database from Forcepoint is also very good.

It's got a very reliable orientation.

It is a scalable solution. We can use it for global-level customers and for separate locations.

This is a highly detailed product with very good key features. When it comes to optimization, it's similar to Blue Coat. It has a very stable architecture.

It's very feature-rich when it comes to visibility and reporting. The reporting module is very handy. We can schedule reports and generate investigations.

The initial setup is easy.

What needs improvement?

I'd like to see the solution improve the banded optimization to offer more bandwidth control, similar to what is on offer with Blue Coat. For example, it would be useful if we could arrange the restriction of certain uploads for particular applications.

It would be great if they had classic customization features. I have quite good experience in Check Point solutions, so I experienced how application protocol features help when we want to deploy bandwidth content filtering. I expect to have the same or close to the same level of customization in Forcepoint.

For how long have I used the solution?

My bread and butter is Forcepoint DLP. I've worked for about seven years with Forcepoint solutions. However, I've worked with the Secure Web Gateway for five years and have deployed it for customers as well.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze.

It has good architecture. It has an architecture where I have the policy brokers, policy severs, and content creation, as well as an integrated reporting module with a reporting database. I have a team building products with me, including OEM software. When it comes to Forcepoint, it's a very reliable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Many of our customers have between 400 and 800 users.

How are customer service and support?

I've contacted support many times.

I cannot say they are excellent support. That said, quite often, I get some good support. Still, I cannot recommend them highly. Luckily, I can manage myself just fine. Now that we are in an apex region, I hope that we will get a good level of support for the application.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am also familiar with Blue Coat

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not overly difficult.

The time it takes to deploy the product depends. If I have all the items I need in my hand, it doesn't take that much time. However, compared to other products, it takes a little while time since you need to get it on the client's field servers for reporting, and you need to have some access with admin privileges.

What about the implementation team?

I'm able to deploy the solution for my clients.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't deal with licensing and have no visibility on the exact pricing.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a partner. My company is a system integrator, and I am a consultant. We deploy this solution for clients and have handled five or six high-end deployments so far.

I'd recommend the solution to others if the requirements make sense and it works in the company environment.

I would rate the solution seven out of ten. It's very reliable. It just needs more features.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

We are getting a high value return from our deployment
Pros and Cons
  • "The customization and control of URL filtering and the integration with other Forcepoint solutions are great features."
  • "I am looking forward to the full integration of the endpoints that they offer for web security and DLP."

What is most valuable?

Forcepoint Web Security is a complete web security solution, not just a web filter, like many other solution offerings. The customization and control of URL filtering and the integration with other Forcepoint solutions are great features.

How has it helped my organization?

It has definitely added to the security level of the company network and keeps out accidental or purposeful web traffic that can be malicious or inappropriate.

What needs improvement?

I am looking forward to the full integration of the endpoints that they offer for web security and DLP.

For how long have I used the solution?

Three years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

It was already done when I came onboard. I have made significant improvements to the deployment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Not once after the deployment was corrected. Although, we do have an issue with the Real-Time Monitor service stopping on occasion.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No, this solution can be scaled quite high as long as you understand how to expand the architecture.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

Customer service is at an extremely high level.

Technical Support:

The technical support has improved drastically over the three years that I have been administering it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have, but at a different company.

How was the initial setup?

it was a fairly straightforward implementation.

You need to plan it out carefully, so your deployment is good.

What about the implementation team?

This was and continues to be an in-house deployment.

What was our ROI?

We are getting a high value return from our deployment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Make sure to understand your environmental needs. Take your time scoping the project, otherwise you will have hardship later on down the road.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, others were evaluated.

Scalable and lets you restrict attachments and allow or disallow users to access templates within the organization, but it has some stability issues, and setting it up is challenging
Pros and Cons
  • "Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway does most of its job well, but I especially like its data security feature."
  • "What's missing in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is a specific level of micro-control on protocols or devices, for example, where you can control a particular user or user device."

What is our primary use case?

I'm using Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway for web security, particularly DLP. It's mainly to control internet usage for users in terms of what's allowed and what's not. It's also a DLP solution that I use to monitor the data, including information about any data transfers within the organization.

What is most valuable?

Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway does most of its job well, but I especially like its data security feature. It also is beneficial that it lets you restrict attachments and allow or disallow users to access templates within the organization.

What needs improvement?

What's missing in Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is a specific level of micro-control on protocols or devices, for example, where you can control a particular user or user device. This is what should be improved in the solution.

I want a micro-level management feature added in the next release of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My organization had some issues with Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway, where sometimes it behaves differently, though it could be version related. The solution has some stability issues, though not very severe so I would rate its stability as seven out of ten. It had minor issues that didn't cause a massive breakdown.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is scalable because it works well even with ten thousand to fifty thousand employees. You can scale it up or down, so the solution is a ten out of ten in terms of scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I'm not fully satisfied with Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway support. Though the response time is good, the resolution takes too much time sometimes.

My rating for technical support is six out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway, setup-wise, is complex unless you get some support. It's challenging to set up using an internal ID.

I'd rate its setup as three out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway with the help of Forcepoint support and a third party.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is expensive. You pay per user and functionality. I'd rate it a four on a scale of one to ten. Compared to the competition, Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is one of the most expensive products.

What other advice do I have?

My company uses firewalls, such as Fortigate, and web security products, such as Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway.

My rating for Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is seven out of ten.

My company is a Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway customer.
