Forescout Platform Scalability

I'd like to see Forescout play well with some of our other tools to be able to link up.

In terms of its usage, from what we heard, there are around 14 bases that are using Forescout currently. For its maintenance, just one or two people are required. When you get too many hands in a cookie jar, you end up having problems. So, we got a couple of people in here who know Forescout and dig into it. We have a few people who just have read-only accounts. They go in and look up things, but they can't make any administrative changes.

In terms of our deployment, it's basically just buying more CounterACT appliances whenever we need to scale up. It can be done, but it's not scalable in the way that a cloud deployment is, it's somewhere in the middle.

We have a large number of users, in our organization.

It has been implemented in a large number of federal agencies, including the Departments of Health and Human Services, Agriculture, and the Treasury. It's quite large.

I believe that the current state should be maintained. I don't believe there are any major plans to increase our usage. Maybe just upgrades or future license upgrades, or something like that.

My company has 800 to 1000 endpoints and approximately 500 users. I rate the tool's scalability an eight out of ten. Forescout Platform is fully operational in our company, managing all our devices. We plan to use it more in the future because we're setting up a zero-trust architecture. This will allow our staff to work remotely, even from home.

Forescout's scalability isn't robust or straighforward enough. You need to plan ahead and purchase the correct appliance before scaling up. You will be limited if you buy a smaller plan.

Forescout Platform can scale very easily. You can deploy as many servers as you want, and it's highly scalable. There is console to manage all the Forescout servers which make for easy scalability.

Forescout Platform is used by only the network and security administrators. There is a total of 10 people using it.

The scalability varies. If you have 1000 endpoints, Forescout recommends the 2000 endpoint plan. Depending on the scalability you choose, the hardware and license can be extended.

We currently have three people who use this solution, including an
IT security person, an administrator, and a technical person.

It is very scalable. You can set up an appliance as an Enterprise Manager, which means it can manage a large number of other appliances or VMs. The Enterprise Manager can operate in HA (High Availability) mode, and can manage 100 of the 5160 appliances. Each 5160 can mange 20,000 endpoints, so Forescout can scale to around 2 million endpoints.

Our issue, in terms of scalability, is that we have a brittle machine. We struggled to get the licenses loaded. We would need to change the machine in order to develop a certain level of scalability capabilities.

At the moment, we have about 100 users on the solution, however, we require more licenses. Our goal was 1000 users on devices, however, it wasn't possible. The economics were against us.

We're a huge company, over 100,000 employees, and it does require that we have done our homework ahead of time -- that we know where our address space is, that we know what's out there, and being able to come up with a deployment plan is our responsibility. Once we had that, we were able to go with it, and it works very well.

The scalability of the Forescout Platformall depends on the license. For example, if you have a certain amount of users, endpoints, and anything else you need to put under governance. If you scale out to a higher number, all you need to do is increase the license.

We have five customers and a total endpoints users of approximately 15,000.

This solution is not that easy to scale but this depends on a company's needs.

For our business, if we want to connect to the host, we can do it from one main office and can connect an inventory to those remote hosts from one point. If we want to collect spam traffic, for example, we cannot collect this traffic from one point, because a wider connection channel is needed. So in this case, we need to deploy an additional server for Forescout that will collect spam traffic and send method data to the main management server.

We have three thousand end-user clients. Those are the majority of the people whom we monitor with CounterACT and not so much core devices like servers, or mainframes, or things of that nature. If we have to roll out an update to a client or some of our mobile users, it does so pretty seamlessly.

Product Manager - IT Security at a tech services company with 11-50 employees

In terms of scalability, my deployment architecture is central, so it scales with respect to the number of devices I have to add to my network. The licensing is based on the number of devices you have currently with regards to the future growth in the number of connected devices to your IT network or to your IT infrastructure. That gives you room to scale. So if I know that in the next two years, I would have an additional 50 or 100 users connecting to my network, either directly or remotely, I go for an appliance that accommodates that growth. Which is what I currently have.

So there's room to scale. Then the licensing is based on the number of devices you have currently. So if I have more devices come to my network, I can just acquire more licenses to take care of them. So I think that's fine.
