Fortinet FortiAuthenticator Pricing

First you have to buy the unit, then you have to buy the license for it. I think we have a 100-user license. The price depends on the model. We have a FAC 300, which channels X number of users, so if you have a lot more users, you're going to buy a higher model, like with any other solution.

We got the reseller price, so we paid $3,450 for the authenticator model itself. The support contract is about $2,900 for three years, which is a pretty good deal.
Then you've got to pay the fee for their help with the installation. That was like $6,000, but it varies depending on the vendor. So between paying them to help with the configuration, the box itself, and the support, it came to like $12,500, including a three-year service agreement.

The only other cost is for the SMS messages, which are not expensive. It's under $30 for like 100 SMS messages, so it's not a big deal.

The licensing cost of the product may vary, and I may be able to say that the licensing fees fall under a range between 1,600 USD and 2,500 USD for around 100 users. Fortinet products are generally expensive. I rate the product price as two or three on a one-to-ten scale, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap.

The customers need to pay for licenses, and some pay on a yearly basis while others pay on a three-yearly or five-yearly basis. Also, it is not an expensive solution.

It's not expensive. As we increase the number of users, we'll also be expanding the company workforce.

It's a yearly payment, but you can also find options for monthly payments. There are no additional costs to the standard license.

I would rate the pricing a five out of ten, where one is the cheapest and ten is expensive.

Price-wise, it is competitive, but they still charge.

It is usually cheap. Without a license, you can use some basic features. You can buy a 20-year license and implement the solution once.

FAC is an affordable solution for Middle Range (200E/400E) and also needs a package of mobility agents (2,000) perpetual.

There is nothing to buy in the gateways (FG) and it is fully integrated.

The platform provides a user-based pricing model rather than a subscription pricing model. For instance, the virtual machine and license for 100 users amount to around $2000. Additionally, there may be additional expenses for features like FortiToken.

I rate the pricing an eight out of ten.

The actual cost is fair but when our exchange rate in South Africa goes through the roof, then the price changes quickly. It would assist us if the cost could be standardized or fixed. The exchange rate has a significant impact on us.

You buy the pack for 100 to 200 users. Once it goes over, you have to renew it on a yearly basis. It may be on a term where you license for one business. Officially, the authentication license has a third-party involved. Then you need to take your action.

I don't see any additional license costs from FortiAuthenticator, but for the add-on features like MS Gateway, etc., you need to buy them.

I think the setup cost is reasonable, and we don't need to renew the license. Sometimes there are extra costs for the VM. Our main competitors are RSA and Gemalto, and the Fortinet prices are very competitive relative to their prices.

I think FortiAuthenticator is more expensive than other products like Cisco Duo. It could be more competitively priced.

We want to use high-availability in our products, so we need to get a higher grade and more expensive license for that purpose.

Just make sure you do an accurate count of what you will need for licenses. If you run out of licenses, no additional users will be able to authenticate through this device.

Generally speaking, Fortinet prices are competitive enough. It depends on the markets, but in our market, the price sensitiveness is high, especially now with the current economic situation after the COVID-19. This became something to take into consideration even more. Price is always important, but after such a situation, it's even more so. Customers became even more sensitive to the prices. So, price is another value point for Fortinet.
