Fortinet FortiDDoS Initial Setup

MR
IT Manager-Infrastructure at Southstar Drug

Setting up FortiDDoS initially was straightforward, but the learning curve involved about a month to grasp traffic patterns. The main challenge was crafting policies based on this month of data to establish a baseline for normal behavior. While the installation wasn't complex, the time-consuming part was getting the policies right to accurately reflect the network's traffic characteristics.

The product's initial setup phase was really easy.

There is a lot of time involved in the testing phase and other processes related to the area of deployment, so it may take up to two weeks to deploy the solution.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

One person is enough to take care of the deployment phase of the product. The person involved in the deployment phase needs to better understand topologies when dealing with Fortinet.

The initial setup is not exactly straightforward. We find it to be difficult. They should make it easier for new users to handle.

It took me two weeks to deploy the product due to the fact that I hadn't installed that kind of device before. I had to learn at the same time as I worked on the implementation process, which made things even harder. CloudFlare, for example, is easier to set up.

The initial setup was quite straightforward and because I'm certified by Fortinet, I only reconfigured the firewall and some other things. Whenever I was uncertain about something, I did a test on Google and figured it out myself. So I was able to do everything myself.
