Review of Sophos
Aug 22 2019
What is most valuable? The SSL VPNs are the most valuable feature for me. I have a lot of systems out of the head office that need to connect to the local networks, and they all connect via the Sophos VPN client.
How has it helped my organization? It streamlines the process of creating VPN access for users. Because of the AD integration, it makes it very easy to manage these users from different locations from a central source. It also helps us… more »
What needs improvement? The initial set up process can be a little tricky, especially when you are registering with Sophos and you have a poor internet connection. Setup is not necessarily complex, but it's not trouble-free… more »
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We are paying about $1,500 yearly for the Enterprise Plus. As far as I know, there aren't costs above this standard fee.
What other advice do I have?We use the on-premises deployment model. We definitely plan to increase the usage and also add high variability too. Right now, it is the main internet gateway and firewall for my network. We're using… more »
Which other solutions did I evaluate? We evaluated Cisco ASA as well as the FortiGate before ultimately choosing Sophos. I chose Sophos over FortiGate because I'd already had experience with Cyberoam and it was a fairly similar migration… more »
Review of Forcepoint

Good console management, but the interface is not user-friendly and application filtering needs finer granularity
What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is the console management. It is very good and the security was great.
What needs improvement? The interface is not user-friendly. We were told that we would receive training but it came late and we had already started to deal with the product, which ultimately caused problems because we did it… more »
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We paid for a subscription license, vendor support, and the training.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We are currently using three other vendors including Check Point, Fortinet, and Palo Alto. These have always been there but we were hoping to add Forcepoint as another option.
What other advice do I have?We tried a few implementations and we did not have very much success because the interface is not user-friendly and the product is complicated. If we had the training on time then it may have been… more »
Which other solutions did I evaluate? We are a large service provider and we are always looking for new solutions. We had evaluated solutions by Sophos and SonicWall, although we decided that we were going to try Forcepoint. We would not… more »

What is most valuable?Cisco is powerful when it comes to detecting intrusions. It's better than, for example, Fortinet. Cisco has multiple products - not just firewalls. The integration between other items provides a powerful end-to-end solution. It's nice and… more »
What needs improvement? Before an ASA, it was a live log. It was easy and comfortable to work with. After the next-generation firewall, Firepower, the live log became really slow. I cannot reach the information easily or quickly. This has only been the case since… more »
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is neither cheap nor expensive. It's somewhere in the middle. If you compare it to Fortinet or Palo Alto, Fortinet is low and Palo Alto is very high. Cisco falls in the middle between the two. As far as deployment options go… more »
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?I also work with Fortinet, and it's my sense that, while Fortinet is getting easier to use, Cisco is getting harder to deal with.
What other advice do I have? We're partners with Cisco, Fortinet, and Palo Alto. I work with on-premises deployments and virtual firewalls, however, I don't use the cloud. The solution works well for medium-sized enterprises. Overall, I would rate the solution nine out… more »
Review of SonicWall
Jul 25 2020
What is most valuable?Feature wise, the content filtering is good. The basic firewall rules of the solution are great.
What needs improvement? The product has a lot of bugs, actually. We are facing some issues with this product. The DPI SSL feature which is there, it is not working properly. The IRL, when it was installed, had us facing some… more »
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?I'm not sure what the pricing of the product is. It falls within a middle range in terms of pricing. It' not the cheapest or more expensive. The SSL VPN feature, which is what we needed to purchase… more »
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? While there are a lot of options on the market, we only use SonicWall at this time. We have used Sophos in the past previously. We found that Sophos Firewall had more flexibility compared to… more »
What other advice do I have? We're just a customer. We don't have a business relationship with SonicWall. I wouldn't recommend the solution, actually. It's hard to set up and the stability takes a while to establish. They need to… more »
Which other solutions did I evaluate? There's a lot of firewalls available, including Cisco, FortiGate, and Juniper firewalls too. There are many alternatives.
