What is most valuable?

The most valuable part of the application is the graphic user interface of the application where you can see specifically what's going on in the system at a glance and quickly assess the system. The… more»

How has it helped my organization?

We use the SSL VPN web portal and we actually find it very useful because we don't need to bother with installing additional client-side software.

What needs improvement?

One thing that should be improved in future versions is an issue we have observed and had problems with a few times. When we try to reinstall a backup for FortiOS, you need to do a factory reset… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think the cost of the product categorizes FortiOS because it is a bit more expensive than small businesses will usually want to spend. It is not really practical for SMB or for small businesses. It… more»

What other advice do I have?

I do recommend this product to clients for use but it depends on their case needs. For example, in the AAA (Authentication Authorization and Accounting) some of the accounting and some of the VPN… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

As consultants, we provide different customers with different solutions based on what they need. So, there is no specific product that we evaluate as there are always several options. Mainly I use… more»

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features is having the ability to cluster multiple firewalls even if they are different versions.

What needs improvement?

It's a complicated firewall. Until you come to know the firewall inducers, most people don't like the firewall because the components for it are a little bit complex. User-friendliness is a little bit tough. It needs to be more user-friendly when creating policies, and pushing policies. Committing takes more time compared to Palo Alto. The solution needs to invest in its GUI. The interface is very… more»

What other advice do I have?

What others need to know is that they need to have a clear idea of why they're going for this particular firewall. They need to know if are they looking for clustering or if are they looking for link load balancing. If they're not going for clustering, I would suggest they go with the most moderate firewalls like Palo Alto or Fortinet. A certain type of attack, such as evasion techniques, isn't… more»

What is most valuable?

We find Check Point valuable because they are 100% focused on security. It totally closes the potential vulnerability channel. We can check our mail and our attachments and we can scan everything easily. We get an immediate report about the situation of the attachments. We can discover if the… more»

What needs improvement?

The stability of the solution could be improved, but this is the problem of all the solutions in the market. This isn't just a problem specific to Check Point.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our licensing is yearly at a fixed cost. The solution has a very flexible pricing model. It can provide the same level of security and performance, but in parallel, can be subscription-based.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is the on-premises deployment model which we use in our server environment. We are an integration company, and although we deal with other solutions, we mainly focus on Check Point. The solution is a great mix of user experience, flexibility, security features, and cost. After five… more»

What is most valuable?

The setup, the configuration, and the security are the most valuable features. This solution is user-friendly.

How has it helped my organization?

This solution has given me more security, I have more control over my VoIP solution, and I can pick up separate VNs.

What needs improvement?

I haven't seen any feature that will allow me direct authentication for a VPN solution. It may not have an integrated VPN for this solution, which could be the reason that they do not have that… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's a free solution, with payable add on features.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

Previously we used Untangle and SonicWall. SonicWall is a paid solution and Untangle is a free solution with extra payable features, the same as Comodo Dome.

What other advice do I have?

We purchased the solution and we are partners. I haven't had a chance to go through all of the features and what this solution offers, but I think that it has an integrated VPN. I am looking forward… more»

What is most valuable?

The reporting on the solution is excellent.

How has it helped my organization?

We are able to trace any user and pinpoint any vulnerability or any malicious software. We are able to synchronize between the local and active directories so we can catch users easily through their login names and IDs.

What needs improvement?

There needs to be a way that we can distinguish between educational institutions on Youtube and other Youtube videos. You can do this on Fortinet. Basically, they can block all other Youtube videos besides those that are from educational institutions. With Sophos, you either allow for all Youtube… more»

What other advice do I have?

We use the on-premises deployment model. I would rate the solution nine out of ten. It's a very good firewall. It helps a lot with protection, and every organization needs a firewall to ensure they are protected.
