What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that I can completely isolate devices that are compromising the network. I get all of my analytics from the FortiGate point of view. I have FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiManager for all of my analytics. The… more »

What needs improvement?

I don't like the way it's managed. For some of the smaller switches that we have, I was not able to log into it and manage it. I am not sure if it is something that I am missing or something that I am not doing correctly or if this applies… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's affordable and there are no additional costs, just regular support, and license fees.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously we were with Cisco, but we were already using FortiMail and received the distribution for Fortinet. We purchase Fortinet firewalls. The firewall and the mail were already working for us, so we thought that would just do… more »

What other advice do I have?

I am working on a roadmap to ensure that everything is running on a Secure Access and not just from the switches. I am currently working on introducing SSO and Active Directory. It's going to be extensive, where everything will be running… more »

What is most valuable?

The integration between the FortiGate and FortiSwitch — the reporting and monitoring — is perfect. The reporting and monitoring of the endpoints could not be better. So, for me, this is the best… more »

How has it helped my organization?

It gives us the option to offer different solutions to our clients that fit their needs and budget.

What needs improvement?

I think that Fortinet needs to focus on its pricing and improving the packages offered to users. When our company offers a client the FortiSwitches product, the customer ends up comparing… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is one of the most expensive that customers can consider, but the pricing is justified by the functionality. It would probably be best if they reconsidered pricing so more people will use… more »

What other advice do I have?

On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate this product as an eight. Nothing is perfect. The technical support is a bit of an issue.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

As a reseller, we have evaluated many options and we use whichever one seems to be the best fit for the client.

What is most valuable?

The interface is great because we can do all the administrative tasks with a user vertical interface. FortiSwitch can be managed by the FortiGate, so a lot of tasks are doable using FortiGate. If you master FortiGate, you won't have a lot of difficulty mastering FortiSwitch. What I really love in… more »

What needs improvement?

The technical support could be improved.

What other advice do I have?

I can recommend the solution. I would rate the solution as a seven (out of 10). FortiSwitch is a member of what Fortinet calls its security fabric.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Maybe Fortinet can improve FortiSwitch's functionalities, because they are not the best on the market. Cisco switches offer more functionalities regarding access control and other features, like WLAN security. They can improve these on FortiSwitch. It's affordable compared to other switching… more »

What is most valuable?

The security fabric is easy and the ability to manage FortiAP, FortiClient, and FortiGate all from a single console is great. Configuration and installation are quite simple. You can manage the wireless users, and the network users, the security status of all your devices including the laptops, and… more »

What needs improvement?

There are currently issues with some of the switches, problems with the firmware. I think they need to check the firmware, especially, with the new FortiGate firmware integration and they need to offer a strong switching feature like Cisco, especially in the VLAN management systems and integration.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing costs are on an annual basis and cover warranty and support. There are no additional costs.

What other advice do I have?

If you want to run full integration with the secure network architecture from a single point, you can use Fortinet. It's suitable for small and medium size business. You can run all your products like the wireless access points, and switches, and FortiGate and firewall from the single vendor. It… more »

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of this product is its simplicity. The one portal that we are using in FortiGate from Dell is the point for managing everything. The other good features are security-related, it's very easy to use those switches.

What needs improvement?

The product could be improved with additional security-related features, you can never have enough. Otherwise, I find it quite an easy product to use. Scalability could also be improved. For additional features, I would again mention the security and it would be nice if the 4G system was directly on… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to use HP only and we still sell that. We now sell 50% FortiSwitch and 50% of our customers are staying with the HP switches.

What other advice do I have?

I think this is a great product and everyone who chooses it will enjoy using it. I would rate this product a nine out of 10.

What do you think of Fortinet FortiSwitch - Secure Access?

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for different reasons. It depends on our customer security requirements and the projects that we are implementing for banks, hospitals, etc.

What is most valuable?

The visual scope of the solution is very good. It allows me to see and download all of the network information.

What needs improvement?

In terms of improvements, the solution has SD-WAN but it doesn't have SDN. This should be added. The solution can only be managed by FortiGate.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale, but there are some limitations. Our partner just started using the solution so I'm not sure how many…
