Google Hangouts Room for Improvement

Google Hangouts is not good enough to be used in a professional environment or for some official work, especially when compared to a product like Microsoft Teams. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement in the product.

Earlier, I think there were some plug-ins for attendance and all, but that's one part that is missing. I believe if you have a license, you might get that. Also, I think the version that I'm using doesn't allow recording. I guess it's more of a licensing issue than anything else, and it needs to be improved. Attendance could be one issue since it is one feature that can be provided and can be useful.

Google Hangouts should add a feature to show how someone connects, such as via a laptop or phone. If you know if someone is using a laptop you can ask them to share their screen.

Although it is possible to adjust video resolutions in Google Hangouts, the available options are limited to low resolutions, such as 360p or 480p. It would be beneficial to have additional options for higher quality, particularly for those with high-speed internet connections who could benefit from enhanced video quality.

I have faced some technical issues where I could not join a meeting, a meeting ended abruptly, or I was in a meeting room but the host could not see I was there. There was some issue in the cloud.

It would be ideal if they could include in the offering a virtual whiteboard for users when they are running meetings.

We'd like to have remote control so that if I share my screen, others can use it and manipulate it.

There is a significant problem with performance when you have a poor connection. In these cases, it does not do a very good job of stopping the video automatically. The algorithm should be improved to automatically deal with poor connections in a better way.

In the future, we would like to have support for multiple speakers at the same time.

We would like to have a registry of attendance created automatically to show us who is in the session.

The only issue with the solution is that we can't split the video of participants into separate screens, which can make it difficult to manage the cameras of participants. The solution can improve by adding the ability to split the participant screens into multiple monitors.

Other solutions such as Zoom can facilitate a presentation and easily separate participants. In the future, we can save the record, edit it, and maximize the screen for better understanding. If necessary, we can also show the participants' screens. I would like this ability to be added to Google.

I haven't used Google Meet in a few months. The product doesn't offer the option to upload or send files to others. While the product does provide the option to text, it could be even more useful if it offered the ability to share pictures, such as screenshots, with individuals who are not connected with you through phone or social media.

At that point in time when we were studying, we, as students, needed the ability to upload files, especially to send answers to our teachers' questions. Instead of typing the answers, it would have been good if we could upload pictures or screenshots.

We'd like the solution to have better file sharing in the product.

You only get 60 minutes of video conferencing.

If you want to record a meeting, you can't do that in the standard version.

It is not extremely stable.

Let me compare it with Zoom. Google Hangouts can't handle a large number of people. It has a limit of around 900 participants. Zoom also has limitations. So, there is room for improvement.

Another area of improvement is icons.  I believe they could enhance the icon selection feature. It would be great to have more options for icons like Zoom does. It's not necessarily a critical improvement, but it would add a nice touch and provide users with more customization options.

Google Meet should extend the time limit for a meeting from five minutes to at least thirty-five minutes. I may be mistaken, but it seems like an appropriate duration for your average meeting.

Additionally, when joining a call on Google Meet, it would be helpful to know how many participants are already in the call before joining. This feature is available in Zoom, and I find it quite useful. I prefer Zoom and appreciate the ability to immediately join a call without having to wait for an invitation. It's convenient to know how many participants are already on the call before joining.

Collaboration in Google Hangouts has room for improvement compared to Microsoft Teams. On Microsoft Teams, you can share a document directly and work on that document all at once, in real-time, with other team members, which isn't the case with Google Hangouts. However, Google suite has Google Docs, which has a similar feature, but I haven't experimented yet.

Google Hangouts has breakout rooms now, but not as extensive as Zoom, so that's one area for improvement.

I mentioned that I like the Google Hangouts captioning feature, but that could be improved. For example, importing Filipino-English captions here in the Philippines would be great.

I want to add a Zoom feature in Google Hangouts, where multiple people can interact with what's shown on the screen and draw and put shapes, for example.

The way it works with anonymous users should be improved. That could be strengthened to let anonymous users do more.

If we could get the person that we call that doesn't have a Gmail account and to screen share would be helpful. There have been times when I actually wanted to do remote control through Google and that would be really helpful too. That would help support a lot too.

We purchased a videoconference system called Zoom. We want to see if Google Hangouts has the ability to integrate our Zoom device to use it with Hangouts and meet directly. I would like for Hangouts to have a professional cloud service in which people will be able to connect the device up to and need not to go through another competitor. I'd rather just use one single service.

It would be better to have a feature for recording the meetings in Google Hangouts. I don't know if there is a feature in the basic version of Google Hangouts that allows for the recording of meetings, but I know that it is possible in Zoom. I think the advanced version or the licensed version of Google Hangouts may allow for the recording of meetings, but I have not explored it. Having a recording feature for the basic version of the tool would be helpful, as it is the only shortcoming of the product.

Connectivity and voice clarity is good. If I had to rate it out of ten, I would give it an eight. However, there were times when I used Google Hangouts on my phone and the voice quality was bad.

The back button functionality needs to be improved. When you hit the back button, you get out of the meeting. What should happen if you are in a meeting and you press the back button is that you would still be in the meeting but you would be able to see the other available features of your phone or use other apps. With Zoom, you are able to do those things.

They don't have a way to schedule a meeting as you with other solutions. If you compare it to Zoom, in that product you can schedule a meeting and send a link to others. The option it provides is to start a meeting then to invite or add. If you don't know their Gmail address then you can't invite them to join.

Google Hangouts restricts you to those with a Gmail account.

It's not easy to share. If you are with Zoom there is not share or deny, you send a link and they will be able to join you. It's made to be simple.

Once Google Hangouts is launched you are able to start meetings. Your contacts are all listed but only Google Hangouts contacts are available. If someone does not have Google Hangouts then there is no way to invite them to the meetings.

The UI is good, but the transaction needs improvement. The flow from jumping from one screen to another is a bit complicated.

A better resolution that is capable of showing hi-resolution videos would be useful.

The capability of transferring files through chat, other than just images and videos, would be useful. There are some workarounds for it, but they are not as robust as the other features. Most other messenger allows you to send files through chat.

I would like to see more focus on features for interacting with the participants in a group chat, such as screen sharing. This would be great.

Having an option for participants to ask questions, like a "raise hand" feature, would be helpful because as it is now, they have to send a message and I have to watch for it. The message might be private for me or sent to the entire group but either way, I have to watch the list of participants all of the time for these messages.

I'm not completely happy with the message options in Hangouts because for now it's only possible to send pictures, which is unfortunate because I would also like to be able to send documents and other things. I also think that because we've all become very used to using WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, I think they could also include a reply option.

I sometimes find that the topic that I want to speak to a particular person about, or the topic that we spoke about gets lost among all the words. A reply button would enable me to physically save certain information.
