HPE Ethernet Switches Other Solutions Considered
My network is quite large. Currently, I'm working with educational institutions researching various switch brands, including HPE, Dell, Lenovo, Cisco, and even some Chinese brands.
While other products might offer similar features, I find HPE to be the most reliable. HP servers, switches, and routers are generally superior, in my opinion.
Cisco is dominant in my country. Most users prefer them over HP. However, HP is gaining traction. I use Layer 3 switches, and Cisco performs well, too. But for me, it lacks a certain guarantee of reliability that I find with HP. Overall, it's a good product.
View full review »We also use Cisco. Cisco and HPE are similar when it comes to access and activation.
View full review »We also have Ubiquiti. We use them in our branch offices as a connection throughout the office network because they are very easy to manage. It's one of the best UI experiences I've had in the past years.

We transitioned to Fortinet due to a company policy that came in to change from HPE to Fortinet. However, at the HPE level, I don't think Fortinet is on the same level. You won't compare HP with Fortinet. If you're going to compare HPE, then you have to go to Cisco Enterprise. But we try to stay just a little bit below the very high-level enterprise systems that HPE and Cisco have.

We use Fortinet and Cisco for larger businesses because we may lack information about the scalability of Aruba's and HP's higher-level products.
View full review »We have recently compared the solution with Huawei and Juniper. We looked at options to see which would be best for a proposal. We may change, or we may stick with HPE. Right now, Huawei is cheaper than HPE.

We were looking at some switches from Alcatel-Lucent, but they are not popular in Egypt.

We chose HP because they met most of the criteria that we were looking at, and they were able to come up with some solutions that were a little outside of the box when things didn’t quite fit. They were more proactive on the sales/engineering side and with pre-solution support.

I have also been working with Cisco solutions, which are really great but there is a problem with integration. If everything is Cisco then it is very smooth, but if you mix vendors then it's a problem. This is the reason we did not choose Cisco here.
I have also worked with other kinds of switches like D-Link, but they are not for a business like ours.
View full review »We tried Cisco, we tried Dell. Again, it's more robust and the most important factor was a price. I just look at the technology and see if it meets your needs for your data center and not in HP, looks like they did, they did meet our needs, what we needed for our data center, for our campus, branch offices and it's been working out great.

There were three options, but we prefer HPE, it was our first choice.

Whenever we purchase a new switch, we give everybody a chance. We have evaluated Cisco and Huawei hardware.

I have helped clients weigh out the pro’s and con’s and in the end it always came down to cost and 9 times out of 10 HP won the cost battle.

No, due to the cost.
View full review »Yes, we have used competitors. We have used Dell, which is absolutely lousy. D-Link has some high-end switches, but they just don't come close.
View full review »We evaluated Cisco, but they were very expensive in terms of total cost of ownership.
View full review »We do pricing reviews to make sure that we're still getting good value for the money, and we are. We haven't really got any issues with the products, so there's not really any reason to change to those.

We evaluated Cisco.

We looked at Cisco again, but they're expensive yet have a good reputation.
View full review »We looked at HP first and didn't really consider anyone else.
View full review »We evaluated Cisco and Juniper. They are considered high-end providers, but HP can more or less do it all. For small, medium, and enterprise businesses, HP has a very good product range.

Yes. I continued to consider Cisco as well as evaluating other "1st tier" vendors such as Extreme, Brocade/Foundry and Juniper
