HPE Ethernet Switches Previous Solutions

Typically, our clients haven't used anything else. Many of them have been using HPE for over 10 years, and we usually deployed the first switches, which would've been HPE. For some clients, we've completely replaced everything three times now during that time because things have reached the end of life and need to be replaced.
View full review »Before HPE Ethernet Switches, we used Juniper switches. We mainly switched from Juniper to HPE because of the local support HPE Ethernet Switches provide.

I have previously used Cisco solutions. I prefer the HPE dashboard.
View full review »We did use Cisco. HPE performs well for LAN switching, Wi-Fi, and even some routing. However, when it comes to WAN switching, Cisco is generally preferred.
While HPE's routing capabilities are good, Cisco might be preferable for complex routing scenarios.

View full review »We actually looked into three companies, HPE, Dell, and Ubiquiti, during our initial setup. We made our decision for HPE because the price value was quite competitive. Even though at some point, they were more expensive than Dell's tools, they had some advantages in terms of stability and availability as well.

We're not currently using Cisco. We used a mix of HPE Ethernet Switches and Cisco in the past but ultimately opted for HPE.
View full review »I'm also familiar with Cisco, which is a bit more expensive.
View full review »Since our company provides services, we work with the switches that the clients have. Most of the switches we work with are HPE's, Cisco, and UniFi.
I found that when using Aruba or UniFi, you have to search for the MAC table from CLI. This is difficult because when someone calls using a MAC, I will not get the IP address and I need to guess where the user is.
UniFi requires less intervention in configuration, requiring some tune-up support. HPE needs to be configured manually.

I have used Cisco switches before. Cisco updates are more difficult on switches. Also, the initial setup is more difficult.

Previously, we had not used another solution. We started with HPE Ethernet switches.
View full review »Most of the time, we use solutions from Cisco. They are well supported in Egypt. However, new regulations in Egypt require that if we are buying a product from abroad then we have to be a partner, and have a letter from the vendor to indicate this. Is has to do with the ability to provide local support.
Because we are not a partner with Cisco, we need to purchase equipment from the local partner. This means that we have to work with their fees and time schedule. Paying in advance is not a problem, but you have to wait for an unspecified period of time to receive your equipment. They won't give you an estimate as to the duration.
We switched to HPE simply because they are easier to get than Cisco or Sophos.

I'm working a lot with Aruba Switches right now.
View full review »We’re basically trying to look at an openstack infrastructure solution. We’re using it on a voice-over-infrastructure, supporting IMS. We’re using a Cisco solution right now.
View full review »Previously we used Cisco Atlantis. We switched to HPE because we had a good impression of this solution and good experience with the switches. Our network system was also older, with older equipment.
I find the setup in Cisco to be more difficult than HPE, but I know HPE better than Cisco.

We had a NETGEAR solution and it was not stable. I did not like the interface because it was very slow. It was a pain to work with and maintain the configuration. It also had very high latency. After switching to HPE we have had no problem at all.
With the old technology we were paying more money with the context. Obviously, we were having a lot of issues with the Data Center, where Data Center used to go down with the old legacy technology. We decided to move forward with RFP. We evaluated a few vendors in the market and after evaluation we decided to go with HP and it's been working out great for us.

We were using Juniper switches previously. We changed it due to the cost. HP had offered us a very low cost to buy the switch.
View full review »We used Netgear before. Using it, we encountered issues with faulty switches and licensing plans. Also, the warranty support from the company we purchased from needed to be more satisfactory.

The Comware version from H3C was very useful for our customer base, but the product line is changing and the customers are changing. Some of our customers use Cisco, HPE, or other products, and I have to configure them. I recommend products to customers, although it often depends on what they already have in their environment.
In cases such as Comware, where the line no longer exists, I recommend new products.
With Cisco Switches, you cannot buy them without the support and a license.
View full review »We used a mixed bag of various vendors, but wanted to standardize on one platform that we knew was stable, reputable, and easily serviced by multiple channel partners if needed. We looked at others, but HP dominated.
View full review »We were using Nortel until two years ago. We moved to a new building, so we had to switch as there were no active network components available. We had been using Cisco before and we still use Cisco for the wireless infrastructure.

I was using other solutions previously, such as Fortinet, Cisco, and Juniper Switches. I prefer FortiSwitch more than HP Switches because FortiSwitch has more capabilities that are not supported by any other solution, for example, FortiLink. However, HPE is a very good company and is very large.
