HPE Hyper Converged Initial Setup

Yudish Jatoo - PeerSpot reviewer
Business Development Manager at MC3

The initial setup is very straightforward. The product is very easy to deploy, both on-premise and in the cloud. This is because it works with VMware, which is a popular virtualization platform.

Additionally, the product is supported by HPE, which provides remote deployment assistance.

So, the product is very well supported in terms of setup and installation.

The initial setup is not simple. The process gets simpler as we do it for many years. If we face issues, we contact the support team. The deployment takes two months. We had a lot of changes to make.

It took our partners several weeks to set up because the solution needed to be configured on several servers, connected to the network, and tested.
The setup includes copying and restoring servers. The initial setup will take a week at least, and we need at least three engineers to maintain the solution.

I rate the solution's initial setup process as five out of ten. It has medium complexity. It takes time to learn the process. The deployment involves minimal steps and requires a day to complete.

The initial setup is okay, and I'd give it a seven out of ten. We have it deployed on-premises, and I recommend it because cloud deployment can be expensive.

The deployment takes an hour to a couple of hours at maximum.

The product's initial setup phase is simple as everything is GUI-based in the solution nowadays. You have to go through the management interface, and you can scale up or scale down your cluster from three nodes to sixteen nodes and then to thirty-two nodes, which is not a challenge.

The product's installation phase can be taken care of in five days.

One project manager and two engineers are more than enough to take care of the product's deployment.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

I deployed the solution and it was straightforward. Deployment time depends on the customer's network. We work with integrators to implement in other organizations and there can be anywhere between 30 and 12,000 users. The solution requires one maintenance person.

The setup was a little bit complex. There were a lot of things to do with the USB drive to reload the images and then build it up. If it didn't build in a particular order, then that node has to be reloaded and you start all over again. They were also fairly new at the time, so hopefully it's gotten easier since then.

The initial setup is easy. Features for maintenance patching, and updating are available.

We only use it for on-premises virtualization infrastructure, not the cloud.

The initial setup is very simple. Any system engineer who has experience in VMware will find it very user-friendly. Deployment took about a week. Apart from the hardware, we had to install two types of hypervisors, and then we handled the virtual machines and the backup. For deployment, we had five engineers.

The implementation took almost two days for us, even though HPE told us that it would take two hours.

When comparing VxRail vs HPE Hyper Converged, VxRail is easier to implement. You just initiate the start, then it automatically starts the configuration. It detects the nodes and everything else. Everything which is connected to the data center is set up within two to three hours (maximum). While I haven't done the set up, I have seen it done.

Self Implementation is adequate for this solution.

When we buy something in our country, they require a backup of the configuration prior to the implementation. After that, if there are problems then you need support.

The implementation process is the Windows type.
