HPE StoreOnce Pricing
I think the product is competitive in terms of pricing. Other products like the one from Dell are costlier compared to the tool.
View full review »With the same capacity of Data Domain and ExaGrid, which is 80 terabytes, HPE is the cheapest one.

The pricing is competitive. The licensing costs is capacity-based and come bundled with support. The bundle is an end-to-end thing.

I would rate it around 2 or 3 because, compared to others, it tends to be higher priced.

The price for the appliance is good, but the price for StoreVirtual VSA is high. The price of the product is reasonable.
The price point and possibly the compression and deduplication value of Data Domain are significantly greater than StoreOnce. Otherwise, they offer similar features and functionalities.

We have not taken a perpetual license for HPE StoreOnce, but you need to buy the license capacity as you increase the capacity. HPE StoreOnce is cheaper compared to other solutions in the market.

We have got a perpetual license, and we have access to all the features.
If you are using cloud banks, you can store the internal data in HPE Cloud if needed. You can offload the data to the HPE Cloud. It is a licensed product. We have got around 10 TB of cloud bank storage with a one-time payment. We specifically took 10 TB for very critical offsite backups. We can also increase it in blocks if needed.
I rate the pricing a four out of ten. The solution is pretty expensive. It's not cheap because it's bigger than what we need.
View full review »Licensing costs are reasonable when you consider the benefits. We have a permanent license.
I rate the product's pricing a seven out of ten.
View full review »The product's pricing is medium. It could be improved. We purchase its yearly license. There is an additional cost for support services.

The solution's cost is above average. I rate its pricing as a seven. We purchase an annual subscription for its on-premises version. It is around 30% of the solution's cost. There are no additional costs apart from the standard license.
View full review »The original cost was approximately $250,000. Included in that was the device itself and 40TB of storage space.
View full review »The product is not expensive. It is available at a good price.
To be honest, we were quite happy with the price, but we always want things cheaper than they are. I think for what we got, we felt that the price was quite reasonable comparing it to other products that provide that same level of functionality; it was priced quite well in the market. We are looking for larger StoreOnce deployments for other requirements at the moment. Again, we are finding the price point quite attractive.
From that point of view, no problem at all. I'm just trying to think from a licensing point of view, they do seem to like charging for every little component. If you want to put a 10Gb adapter in there, there is a license charge for that. If you want to put in a fiber channel adapter, there is a license charge for that. On the whole, it hasn't been a limiting factor for us at all.

The licensing fees are based on how much storage space is required.

License Catalyst. It is really the best performing interface for StoreOnce - so ensure whatever backup solution you are looking at has native Catalyst support to see the best results with the product. While it has VTL, CIFS and NFS capabilities, the best way to use it is with the Catalyst protocol.
View full review »Even the small one that I have over at the job site was not cheap.
View full review »The licensing schemes could improve in HPE StoreOnce and the price is high. They should reduce the price.
View full review »It is not abundantly clear, but the HP Catalyst License also includes the Catalyst Replication capability, so no other license is required if Catalyst Stores are the only backup target being used. StoreOnce devices cannot replicate Catalyst Stores automatically for you, the replication must be triggered by other software such as HP Data Protector.
Depending on the backup product being used with HP StoreOnce, there may be disk backup capacity licenses also required. HP Data Protector requires Advanced Disk Backup Licenses for the usable capacity of the StoreOnce Systems (this is the native usable capacity, regardless of how much data you can actually store thanks to deduplication benefits).
You can use a StoreOnce as a NAS/CIFS Target and also as a Virtual Tape Library. These backup targets can be replicated to other StoreOnce Backup Systems, however these require additional licenses.
View full review »Get an expert who knows the products, so you can get the best prices possible for both DP and StoreOnce. Because there are some things that can work for the same solution in different ways, hence they are differently licensed as well as priced.

The license is part of the hardware. You don't need to buy or renew it separately.
StoreOnce comes in a package: hardware and software. All the licenses come with it. Software licenses for backup solutions like Data Protector you do have to purchase separately, but in terms of the backup appliance, it comes with all the features and the license as part of it. You have to only purchase the application license but that is very cheap.
For a small configuration, it is expensive, but if you need to backup many servers with a lot of data, I think it is a good price.

There are costs for additional storage and space.
View full review »It's just amazing. No cost. As long as you have the StoreOnce appliance with catalyst, there's no cost for that. It is a nice feature that's going to keep my DBAs happy.
View full review »We start up the equipment and we need to put the licence number and the serial number of the equipment but I had a problem with that. It is not clear which serial number we need to use. I had a problem with a client who used one serial number but that serial number wasn't the correct one. We needed to open a case for re-licensing the equipment. It takes about two weeks to put in the licence. It's not OK for us, for the client. It's the only issue I have with the StoreOnce.
