BigFix Pricing

BigFix does license per server and per workstation. The cost depends on how many servers or work stations you are dealing with, and which tier of service you use.
BigFix consists of four modules. You get what we call the Platform Edition, which you get for free. The patch service is maybe $0.50 per workstation per month. Then there's the basic server cost, which is about $1.50 per server per month. You also get into Lifecycle which does power management, OSD remote control, and those types of things, and that might be about 10 times the price - which works out to about $13 per server and, maybe $5 per workstation per month.
It's all pretty customizable and you can just get the bare minimum or trade-up for a bit more.
View full review »From a technical standpoint, it's strong in security and flexibility, but it requires a lot of customization. It's not straightforward. If we compare it to Azure and ForceWise, it might be considered a bit costly. I'm not sure how to articulate it, but it's costly because I have to build my own infrastructure, whereas with other SaaS solutions, I don't need to do that.
So, the pricing is slightly more expensive than the others. I have to keep buying licenses every time I add a new device. If I require 1000 devices, I’ll need 1000 more licenses. So, the price mainly depends on the number of devices.
View full review »The product is affordable. I rate the solution’s pricing a three out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is high.

Its price is very reasonable.

There's not much big cost. We only have to pay the agents' cost for the server, and for the systems.
The pricing was good. We had government pricing going into the project and it was pretty fair.

I don't deal directly with licensing.
My understanding is that it is affordable. We have had conversations about other licenses, and other applications like Splunk, and we know that one is more expensive. Pricing hasn't been anything that's even come up in conversation.

You are charged per server and per workstation when using BigFix. ManageEngine is a lot cheaper than BigFix. There are some additional costs, such as support.

The patching tool is $250 per client device per year. The inventory and discovery tool is $15 per client per year. They have a lifecycle management tool that is the central component for managing endpoints, which costs around $43 per year. BigFix Compliance is the other part, and that's also around $43.
The price of BigFix could be lower. However, I am always seeking a lower price.

The price of the solution is high. There are not any additional fees from the standard license.
I rate the price of BigFix a seven out of ten.

The price of BigFix is better than the solutions. You are able to pay monthly or annually. There are not any hidden costs with BigFix. There is an additional cost for the SQL database.
I rate the price of BigFix a five out of five.

It is too costly. It is one of the best tools, but because of pricing, not all clients support it.
Its licensing is on a yearly basis.

The licens price of the HCL BigFix is very fair. The challenge is the license of the MS SQL server. If you can handle DB2 - The DB2 database server that is included with BigFix is free to use. Because the MS SQL -server express cannot be used unless demo purposes, I recommend and SPLA license for the MS SQL server wich gives you the oppuritiny to connect an unlimited numbers of clients to the BigFix server.

I'm not sure of the exact licensing structure. It might be about $23 a client. Some of the modules, such as security compliance and lifecycle, may cost extra. For example, the integration with BigFix and Micorosft Defender may require an extra license.

License management isn't quite as easy as it should be to deal with the licensing. You need to take the server down to import the new licenses which I find to be annoying.

We always were able to get our client the best cost from the vendor, so pricing was not really an issue.

View full review »IBM BigFix comes with many different packages depending on the functions that are required. IBM BigFix Patch is the most basic package which provides the ability to patch almost any operating system with many third-party applications. It also provides the capability to create custom content such as software packages (called Fixlets), inventory scans (called Analysis) and create custom reports. All of the other IBM BigFix packages also provide patches.
When purchasing, buying with other IBM tools provided us with a very good discount in pricing. Also since we were deploying to a highly virtualized environment, the use of RVU (Resource Value License) was very beneficial for us.
View full review »Plan well to ensure you have a stable and scaleable deployment. If you have a need for many use cases: Patch Management, Software Distribution, Remote Control, OS Deployment, Software Asset Management, Vulnerability Management, Security Compliance, and Server Automation, make sure you prioritize your requirements before deployment. You should go about meeting the requirements in phases, not try and burn the entire ocean.

BigFix is actually a little bit on the expensive side in Turkey because of the dollar's exchange rate in our currency.
I would stay with the Managed Virtual Server license model, which is a 1-to-1 license per OS whether it is virtual or physical.
View full review »Understand the requirements and the amount of use before choosing it. If you are just managing Windows machines with the regular MS released updates, than WSUS might be a cheaper and more viable solution. If you are looking forward to a single tool with third-party vulnerability remediation and in-house customization, then this is product is good to go.
