Our IT department uses their personnel as well as consultants to maintain the Cognos environment.

I implemented it myself with the help of a reseller. I had two other team members, one who was responsible for ETL generation and the other for the physical database and backup. We have one person who maintains the solution.

The deployment process of the product was taken care of by one of the in-house teams in my organization.

We completed the deployment in-house.

We have a team of two that did the maintenance and support of the solution. I did all of the maintenance and upkeep of the application and the upgrade and everything else. 

Overall IBM Cognos is not maintenance heavy. Once you set it up properly, it runs close to maintenance-free.

We used support from the vendor for the implementation. It took approximately one and a half months for the process.

For some of the aspects of the solution requires maintenance. One of the features that we were using is the development of interactive and interdependent dashboards. For some reason, this dashboard used to fail when we would get out of the dashboard and close IBM Cognos and come back to IBM Cognos again. That required an upgrade on the application, which we did, but it was still not working. This issue required some maintenance to resolve.

In-house. I have implemented most of the solution specific to user requirements.. One of them is the automate cube build and deployment.

We implemented the solution using our in-house team.

We had someone who helped us set everything up and provide the required technical training.

We handled the implementation internally. We did not need any outside assistance from integrators or consultants. 

We did the implementation ourselves. We used the Azure platform to receive the data from an API and we send it up to IBM Cognos for the database.

For maintenance of the IBM Cognos service, we have one person using 12 days a year, for patching or the install of new releases.

Implementation was done by an expert, we did not have any issues with the setup.

in-house

The amount of people needed to support the implementation depends on the customer. If it's a small business-sized customer with 10 to 20 users, I can do the implementation by myself. If it's a larger business then sometimes four, five people.

The maintenance can be very minimal because the data structure doesn't change. However, on the other hand, some customers have the requirements over time to change.

I have done both. The original implementation was done by a vendor team (before I was hired), and I have since performed two upgrades myself. The vendor team was capable, but they didn't understand our needs as completely as I have come to know them.

An in-house team implemented it.

At that time I was implementing with the Cognos team and in-house. People from Cognos were very experienced.

As a consultant, the vast majority of my clients hire out the development team. A few times I've been brought on to provide additional temporary support or training.

Both of them according to the project. We rated their level of expertise with POC.

Implementation was done by an In-house team who learned from scratch.

You need a consultant or an integrator for setup. You need somebody to do it. You can't just do it by yourself.

It had already been installed, and I got a lot of support from other people in the company. I have no experience with a vendor team.

We always implemented it through a vendor, but until now, we are more expert than they are.

It has always been in-house implementation.

We used an IBM partner who were good.

Through a vendor. Very good expertise.

One day was needed to implement the product, and this was done by an experienced consultant from the vendor.

We used a vendor team. They talked a good game, but I would rate them at a 6/10.
