What is most valuable?

It provides performance for our highly critical applications. They seem to be doing real well with keeping up on the performance and everything, especially what I have seen with the new chipset that is being offered. I can't really think of... more»

What needs improvement?

It can be difficult to patch and maintain because there are so many databases running on it.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend it for highly critical, performance-sensitive applications. You have to do a TCO on it because it is a fairly expensive solution. There has to be a cost-benefit analysis done on that.

What do you think of Netezza?

Primary Use Case: We use Netezza and Teradata in our project environment where I work as an admin and data modeler. • Valuable Features: Distribution concurrency control. • Room for Improvement: Concurrency limit needs to be increased somewhat. • Use of Solution: More than five years. • Stability Issues: Great stability in Netazza's Mako. • Scalability Issues: As of now, no issues with scalability. But like Teradata, we can’t add a node/SPU to the existing appliance. • Customer Service and Technical Support: I work with IBM PDA support.
