What is most valuable?

Data Integration. The UI-based ability to create data mapping. Also, reusable definition of data sources and the out-of-the-box availability of a large number maplets for common transformation functions.

How has it helped my organization?

Easy, scalable, robust platform to integrate heterogeneous source platform's data into the unified data warehouse.

What needs improvement?

Cost! Also, BI features. While Informatica is great for data-integration, it does not have any analytics features. Thus, organizations have to always look for another product for their BI needs.

What do you think of Pentaho Data Integration?

Valuable Features: Data transformation within Pentaho is a nice feature that they have and that I value. • Improvements to My Organization: Integration between databases and data import for a BI solution. • Room for Improvement: I would like to see more improvements with AS400 DB2. I journalled the tables/instance and the data migration is too slow if I compare it with other databases. • Deployment Issues: There were no issues with the deployment. • Stability Issues: Until now, the stability of Pentaho is great. What is most valuable?

It can integrate with more recent databases like Cassandra, Hadoop, and other more recent Big Data databases. Going forward, that is very important.
