Customizable, easy to use, and the reporting features are good

What is our primary use case?

I run my own engineering office in Switzerland for training companies on a freelance basis. I have used the most recent version for several projects.

Pros and Cons

  • "I really like the customization that can be done using the DOORS Extension Language (DXL)."
  • "There are problems with communicating between DOORS and Microsoft Office."

What other advice do I have?

I have been using classic DOORS version 9.6.1.11 and I was interested in switching to IBM DOORS Next Generation, but it is not as easy as I thought. The complexity is quite different and it is not very user-friendly. You used to have your own client and database, but now that it is mixed with the web, it doesn't make sense for me to use it. An excellent cloud solution that is a very user friendly and mature

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for requirement management and test management.

Pros and Cons

  • "Technical support answers fairly quickly compared to others like IBM or Atlassian. They also offer quite a good knowledge base for advanced cases and how to plan it, etc. via videos that they provide. They are quite useful."
  • "Test management can be improved. It's not so scalable. The user interface needs to split things into small projects."

What other advice do I have?

We use the cloud deployment model. I've found the Jama is pretty much top of line nowadays. I'm certified IBM DOORS consultant as well and compared to that, DOORS may have more functionalities but it's also far more complex. The functionality of Jama is much easier. I would rate the solution nine out of ten.
