IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation Scalability

The solution is scalable. We're always evaluating the complexity of different projects. DOORS handles very, very small and easy projects and I've used it where we've designed entire combat vehicle fleets and it manages several thousand requirements. I've been on projects where we've had over 20,000 requirements and it managed them just fine.

I'm currently bringing this solution into my new company, but at my last company we had over a couple hundred users.

IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation can scale up and down, but there is a lot of scope for improvement required in this regard.

I haven't really used it as much as I should. We just got transitioned over to the latest tool since we were running on Windows 2008, and we had to update it to Windows 2016, which we knew had some better modules. It was last year when we transitioned over to it. I've only accessed the tool maybe once.

I've heard others say that it's better than what we had before.

The search, for example, is good and is better than it was. The way it displays the information is better. I just don't like the way it truncates things. That said, they're large documents. We've got a lot of pages in these documents, and so it's keeping track of everything. In that sense, it scales well and makes everything easy to manage.

At the moment we do not have a lot of data. According to set up we should not have any issues with scalability and we don't expect that we will, as we have been using this solution for five years now and we have many requirements already in place with a lot of relationships and dependencies between requirements.

We have about one hundred and fifty users using this application.

There are no plans to increase usage at this time. We are working on a completely new approach to the development process and the product management process.

This product is supporting our development and product management processes. I think that all of the mandatory features are included. We look at the functionalities that are needed and they were included in this solution and we use them.

This solution is easy to expand to different servers. It's easy to split the user load among different servers, so scalability is good.

The solution is based on an application server, which is scalable, therefore the product itself is scalable.

Yes, be very careful how you load your DNG server. There are limits to the number of artifacts a server can handle.
