What do you think of VMware vSAN?

Valuable Features: Deduplication and compression: Software-based deduplication and compression optimizes the all-flash storage capacity. • Room for Improvement: Compared to other vendors, vSAN is compatible with more expensive hardware, and Nutanix is available on multiple hardware platforms, like Supermicro, Dell and Lenovo. • Use of Solution: I have used it for two months; just for test purposes. • Stability Issues: We have not encountered any stability issues. • Scalability Issues: We have not encountered any scalability issues. • Customer Service and Technical Support: Technical support is 10/10. • Previous Solutions: We did not previously use a different solution. • Initial Setup: Initial setup was straightforward; I had the KB from VMware to...

What do you think of EMC ViPR?

PART I During the recent EMCworld event in Las Vegas among other things, EMC announced ViPR (read announcement here). Note that this ViPR is not the same EMC Viper project from a few years ago that was focused on data footprint reduction (DFR) including dedupe. ViPR has been in the works for a couple of years taking a step back rethinking how storage is can be used going forward.
