IceWarp Room for Improvement

Head of Engineering at Kogta

Regarding issues with the product, IceWarp's server runs out of space, and our organization needs to add space. The turnaround time taken is too much for any issues we raise to the tool's support team.

IceWarp doesn't offer the same support to its users as Google or Microsoft. The email features, attachment features, and how quickly one can receive emails are some areas of concern in the solution. Microsoft 365 can be configured onto the mobile phone and has better integration with Microsoft Teams.

For improvement, IceWarp should try to compare themselves with the other email providers like, you know, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 and see if they can achieve those features to fill the gaps that they have in their tool. Also, the tool's ability to configure with mobile and the support provided for the product's operation on mobile should be improved. The tool's configuration capabilities are not straightforward. Apart from that, if I want to archive emails into a vault so that they can be retrieved again later, the integration doesn't work, and IceWarp crashes. This was something that my system engineer told me. So, that's why we have to add storage to the tool and increase the mailbox size since it does not allow or integrate with the vault.

Support should be improved. Most of the time, the queries are not resolved within the SLA.

It is difficult to disable user rights on the console so some users accidentally delete their documents or user details when they are given access to Smart Attachment.

There needs to be a way to allow uploads but disable deletions through a customizable console.

If an administrator removes a document to troubleshoot, then all attachments disappear because the link is broken.

We attempted a workaround that uploaded temporary files to webmail services, but it was not supported or successful.

The solution should improve the mailing list feature. Google has a similar feature where you can automate sending files to different people in a sequence, but that feature is no longer available in the current version of IceWarp. Other features may also have been removed in the current version.

One additional feature that could be stronger is security. Some financial institutions have expressed concerns about the current level of security in IceWarp. Adding more robust security options could be beneficial.

The solution has multiple master databases and each, including every service and user, must be maintained separately. With multiple databases for VoIP, chat and web IMAP, maintenance is cumbersome.

In addition, the solution does not offer confidential mode, RMS activity types or certain MIS reports.

The database query for creating new database and querying about activities are too simplistic. Built-in help inside the administration interface about converting from "file system" to "database", and about creation of database options, is recommended

Although the documentation is extensive and in depth, you must familiarize yourself with it before taking full advantage of the product.

Commercial - Technical at a cloud provider with 51-200 employees

There are some feature improvements possible the way we use it as a hosting provider, but for most we currently have workarounds.

As with any communication suite, it's important that IceWarp keeps making the right choices and maybe partnerships to keep delivering perfect and high-end solutions.

Our customers sometimes have problems receiving mail. There needs to be a desktop application from where they can get a report about whether the mail was delivered or not. For the public cloud, I often have to check from the backend server whether the mail was processed or not, or where the mail was stopped — was it stopped on our side or on the recipient's side?

The Exchange compatibility mode is rather limited. Their technical support can also be better. They only provide online support, and there should be some option for escalating.

Icewarp requires additional licenses to enable ActiveSync for accounts, but even with that (as of 12.2) the server has issues with syncing emails from the tests I ran.

It is underdeveloped with so many features that are available. There are no requirements for new features at this time.

I would like to have a trial for mobile applications and more documentation similar to Google Drive with mobile applications.
