Icinga Scalability

I would rate Icinga an eight out of ten, I think it is really scalable. You can just add or remove servers, and copy all the baselines to a new environment, so it scales up really well. At our company, there were about 30-40 people at our company were using Icinga.

I rate the product’s scalability a seven out of ten. You can put work into satellite servers. However it is not a perfect cluster solution.

While we can scale a bit, currently, our network is fixed. That said, in general, if we wanted to, we could scale the product.

Currently, only the ICT guys or ICT admins use it. It is not used by the whole company.

We do have plans to increase usage in the future.

The scalability was one of the advantages that we were really excited about. Using the satellite node is a big help. It's a well-thought-out feature. The scalability is one of the greatest advantages of Icinga.

I would rate the scalability as eight out of ten.

In terms of scalability, Icinga is indeed a very scalable product for us. We went through a phase of experimenting with five to seven different tools before finally adopting Icinga, and it has proven to be stable and reliable for our needs. We are quite happy with our decision to use Icinga.

In my company, almost everyone utilizes Icinga in some way or another. Even if they are not directly involved, all our in-house Linux servers are monitored using Icinga. Additionally, most of our major clients also utilize Icinga for their monitoring needs. Icinga has widespread adoption within our company.

There are around 75% of the total workforce in our organization is using Icinga. Therefore, around 200 people are using this solution.

This solution is scalable.

You can scale by opening an RP file or configuration file, add your plugin, and monitor, then reload the configurations.

During the implementation, I added the automatic plugin with ansibles and Icinga. When you run the ansible file, it implements the automatics, it then reloads the plugin for you, no manual work is needed.

Icinga2 is meant to scale in many directions; thus, no issues should occur here.

I saw another site that had different modules that could be integrated with the Icinga product but few things would still be missing if we deployed all of them. An IT or operations team must have these in their monitoring solution like monitoring of detail and monitoring virtualization. Independent of which virtualization solutions our companies use, the solution needs these things. Options like VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox — any DBM type solution that I am familiar with already has these things.

Scalability is problematic. If you have a stable environment it's good, but if the environment is growing, I had some problems with Icinga.
