I have experience with Akamai and Cloudflare. Cloudflare is not made for enterprises or big companies. It is only for small and medium organizations. This is where Imperva comes into the picture. 

Akamai and Imperva are pretty much similar. The only thing that makes them different is the SLA. Imperva is the only vendor that gives three-second SLAs for DDoS attacks. Imperva can mitigate any DDoS attack in just three seconds. This is the main thing that differentiates Imperva from Akamai. Another thing is that the deployment of Akamai is very complex. You need around two to three days to deploy it. You require senior-level engineers. It is very hard to understand as compared to Imperva.

I previously used F5 and something else whose name I don't remember.

We made the switch to Imperva because it is one of the best solutions on the market.

I used to work with Fortinet Web Application Firewall but it was not good.

I have used F5 and Barracuda before. Both solutions are easy to use.

It's my understanding that this company has only used this solution. However, if I move somewhere else, it's possible that something else may be used.

I have used another solution previously which was good. However, Imperva Web Application Firewall had more features.

We used Fortigate. We switched because it's not a WAF. When you have a WAF, you want that WAF to do all kinds of configurations, to promote the firewall, to work the way you want it. Imperva came with everything, the whole package.

We previously used Fortinet, but this solution has better performance ratings.

I'm not currently working with any other solution. I just use this product. 

Previously, I did work with F5 and Fortinet. However, Imperva is superior to both of these products.

We have not switched solutions but prefer this solution for on-premises. When we need a tool that is cloud-based, we prefer other solutions. 

We attempted to use several previous solutions. One was Tenable SecurityCenter with its custom, XML-like scripting where each check had to be written by the Database Security Specialist (myself). We also attempted to use AppDetectivePRO, though its performance, lack of customization, scalability, and licensing costs prevented us from continuing with it.

I have used other solutions, but I usually follow the Gartner reports and their suggestions. My previous solution had not been doing too well.

Also, as I became more familiar with this solution, it became easier for me to identify issues. I had also read research on Imperva blocking denial-of-service attacks, and I like practical evidence of issues such as this. By reading these articles, and about other people's experiences, it is like seeing it for myself. With other solutions, you are not privy to such visibility.

Complexity and cost are two important factors when it came to choosing this solution.

Unless the client has as serious issues and does not want Imperva, this is my first choice.
