Infor LN Room for Improvement

When you have a bug in the system, you get some kind of alert. They should explain those alerts more.

Infor needs to take its user interface one level higher. If I'm a professional, I can understand it, but if I'm a simple user, I cannot. It's very good currently, but they can make it better.

Performance could be better.

Another major area of improvement is customer service and support.

It's not that intuitive. Sometimes it can be a bit of a counterintuitive situation, meaning you are expecting to find certain options or parameters in some places, and yet they are not there. You have to go through a whole different path that doesn't make sense.

Their menu is so chaotic it confuses people.

They should ease up on the setup of the roles. They should make it much easier to access that area.

My company has operations in different locations across the world. In my company, we only need HR software, and it is something that is not provided to us here in Germany by Infor. I have to look for other HR software products available in Germany. In general, the HR-related part of Infor LN doesn't work properly in Germany, making it an area that requires improvement.

Regarding areas for improvement within the solution, I would say that the solution's asset management and quality management need attention.

Regarding features I would like to see included in the next release of this solution, HRM capabilities should be a priority since Infor LN is an ERP solution. While other ERPs provide HR functionalities, such as payroll for salary calculations, Infor LN currently lacks these capabilities. In Infor LN, the existing add-on comes under a different package and a different product altogether, requiring integration. Therefore, enhancing or developing HR application functionalities within Infor LN would make it a complete solution. In short, the next release of the solution should include features that can help improve the human resource management process.

The finance model within this solution does not have very strong reporting functionality, which I would like to see improved.

The AI prediction feature of the solution also needs to be developed.

When it comes to planning, it's more challenging to consider the entire structure, such as having a specific SKU and wanting to look at the planning for the whole structure. You must delve into individual item details to plan for it with order planning. Therefore, improvements will allow more comprehensive planning for each SKU.

The user interface needs to be improved. Right now, it's not ideal in terms of the design. The interface is not elegant on multiple products, such as enterprise assessment, supply chain solutions, and HR information.

The support on offer is lacking. They really need to be better at helping their clients.

Infor is not very much into the market as of yet, which means that its products are not public to date and this precludes students' ability to learn about the Infor products on their own. This translates into a shortage of resources and available information on the internet concerning Infor products and it contrasts with the SAP, which does have training schools and manuals that are open to the public.

Only people who undergo training from the companies can learn about Infor products. There are not many people with whom I can confer in the event of an issue arising. The Infor community is not very big and only makes available a single platform. That's it.

There are many features that I would like to see included in future releases. One would concern a good casual integration. We are currently working on three or four things, the first one involving integration. This should be better. They have come up with the factory track.

I believe that within a few months or years they will come up with zero-time maintenance, something they are currently working on. An example would involve the cloud, on which they currently do maintenance on their own around once per month. When it came to our system, it took them six or twelve hours. The maintenance time needs to be faster.

One area that could be improved in Omada Access Points is team communication. It is important because we use various collaboration systems like Outlook, Atlassian Jira, and Confluence. Integrating these systems more effectively would be great. A big system like Infor LN should have excellent tools for this, including better data linking and planning capabilities.

Our clients don't like the relationship with Infor, which is the manufacturer of the product. They don't like the commercial relations with the sales team and things like that. Information that comes from the company isn't helpful for Spanish customers. They don't bother about this market. Infor seems to think that this market is too small to support.

From a customers' perspective, Infor LN covers most of the processes in the company, but sometimes, they have to choose other tools because of the functionality or the cost of the Infor solution. It covers the core functions of the company—such as financial, operations, logistics, and so on—very well, but it doesn't cover some parts such as invoices, digitization, etc.

The freight management module is a bit complex and can be improved. It can be simplified to make processes and navigation less complicated.

I would also like to see some HR-related activities in the modules for this solution. For example, the HR payroll module is one where the wages and salary should get triggered based on the leave applications.

While Infor LN incorporates the latest business processes and functions, there is always room for improvement as the business grows. In the new normal, it could stand to incorporate quite a few automation processes like the RPA and utilize machine learning in the Internet of Things.

Infor ERP LN after Feature Pack 8 covered the following needs: non-sequential PCF, advanced scheduling, better user experience (Facebook like, user social space for processes), ION architecture, and better customization/development options. Further evaluations are needed for supply-chain and warehouse operations. In any case, detailed analysis is needed for specific requirements. Actual costing should also be reviewed in detail.

The following need improvement:

  • Standard beautiful looking reports - Most reports have too much content and often need to be customized for user friendly presentations.
  • Standard reports – LN offers hundreds of standard reports. Many of these should be redesigned by Infor so that there are basic reports that can be available out-of-the-box in printable formats. Most standard reports have too many fields and need to be customized or modified before the users can actually use them.
  • Task Management – Presently LN requires one to use an add-on component called ION/Xi so that users get a task list. If one uses only the core, then user needs to go through some reports to get a ‘to do list’ for the user. If this is incorporated in the core ERP then it will be a great value addition and make the processes very efficient for the organizations, as it will be ‘pro-active’ on the part of the ERP.

  • In the older versions, the visuals could be improved.
  • Internet access and the general integration with other systems using different technologies (SOAP, REST, etc). In the new versions, these points were improved.
  • I have a lot of expertise in the newest version of ERP (Infor 10 or Infor ERP LN 8), since we have been implementing this version for our clients. However, the last version that we implemented, ERP, didn't have the ability to consume a web service by way of REST or JSON.
  • Another point is the lack of user-friendly tools to create reports.
  • The ERP has a report generator/editor, but it could be more friendly and versatile.

From a technical perspective, LN needs to work on customization and integration. It's fairly expensive for many clients to migrate from a customized private solution to the cloud. Infor needs to improve the cloud solution to make the migration from the on-prem customized solution faster and smoother. Otherwise, many clients will find it difficult or expensive to do.

The User Interface needs to be more user friendly with a sleeker design and the industry best practice processes needs to be implemented. Also, migration from legacy system to Infor LN should be made smoother a process, so that it gives them edge over its competitors.
