Jedox Room for Improvement

Riyaz Halani - PeerSpot reviewer

The process of building reports on the web version can be quite cumbersome. It would be beneficial to have a simpler way to maintain consistency across different reports on the web version. That's the aspect that currently stands out to me and could use some improvement.

More emphasis is needed on the availability of the learning aspect of the solution. Because unless you take up their course that enables you to be an expert in creating the report, you must seek help.

There is not much training for Jedox. There was no training available in the beginning at all. I had to reach out to them so they would give us something. I think they're getting better, though. The other issue is the dependence on the partner network. We used to deal directly with Jedox, but now it is all through partners, and Jedox's representatives are not in the picture anymore. It's not that partners are not doing a good job, but you're not dealing with the company directly since it's a partner most of the time. If you build your know-how within the company, it's good. Otherwise, the dependence on partners could end up being more costly. Suppose you do your development or don't need to develop constantly by starting with a sprint, deciding what you want to do, and setting up the cubes, databases, and everything correctly. In that case, you only need to develop different reports using the same data. However, it could be costly if you constantly need to develop reports or different cubes and store different systems without the in-house know-how.

Online pixel-perfect reporting is an aspect that has room for improvement.

Workflow improvement is also necessary. The current process requires some level of coding or technical setup, and it would be beneficial if changes could be made with less technical expertise.

The solution should enable a modern look and feel in the front end. It is something I work on a lot to create a customer experience. It must feel smooth and look up to date like we would expect from everything else we do in apps, on the computer, and in software. The customer should feel more than just being in an Excel sheet. They must feel that they are in a software solution.

I don't find it particularly user-friendly. I think Jedox's Excel Add-in is not as user-friendly as it should be. I am not really sure what to say about Jedox since I also need to consider the way my company set it up. It is difficult to say. I have used other tools that are just easier, but then maybe we had a simpler database in those other companies.

Exporting data is not particularly easy using Jedox. I can't remember the last time I did that, but I remember it was very tricky to export.

Jedox is working on the front end. They're doing a lot of work to make the front end graphically pleasing. From a development perspective, there's room for improvement in the area called the designer, where you actually build your reports to make it easier to manage the process.

The technical support team needs improvement.

The solution needs to improve its support. The visualization in Microsoft BI is more modern and comfortable than Jedox's. I would expect something similar with the solution.

Jedox should improve the design and server issues. There is also no template for creating dashboards so that feature should be added in the next release.

I think it's the design of the report because the design and the UI for the report is standard and lame. When you see a Jedox report, it doesn't seem like it's from today, because the technology is something from the last decade. The scalability needs improvement.

The tool has changed its pricing and it's now too expensive for small and medium organizations. I miss the open-source version which was free and we could do a lot of things with it.

Being an analytical solution, it should have more visualization options like graphs. When we are putting it, it should have more options. The UI can be made more modernized based on today's market.

Sometimes, when we are doing heavy reports or dashboarding, there is a bit of a performance issue because it is pulling up a huge amount of data. That can be improvised by buffer memory and getting some buffer memory feature into it.

It is a bit complex because it is a CPM solution. It helps you to get the information based on the different tools that we are using, which is a bit of a complex thing. It is not as easy as Microsoft Power BI. It is also not that easy as an implementation piece. It takes time to convert the business requirement into the proper solutions in the tool, which is time-consuming. It took about eight months to do the complete implementation. We got some training from the partner and the Jedox team, which helped us later on in pulling things forward, but too much learning is required, and too many possibilities are there.

Visualization is something they need to improve. We have already told them about this, and they should be working on it.

There should be some dropdown facilities in it like Excel. Whenever somebody moves to a CPM tool, the immediate comparison is with Excel. So, it should have the features that are there in Excel. It has most of the features, but a couple of them are missing.

We are also facing some issues with its scalability.
