ICT Product Manager at a comms service provider with 1,001-5,000 employees
The full deployment took us approximately one month. We typically need only one person for deployment, and we have a service operation center that manages the devices and provides the maintenance.
View full review »It only took a few weeks for them to all be deployed. It was really just a matter of timing and having a window for each location to have a little downtime to make the transition.
The deployment was completed in-house.

Our team implements this product for our clients.
View full review »I've handled installation services for service providers. I mostly work with on-premises versions, but sometimes I also install cloud-based solutions.
I start by preparing the configuration based on the customer's requirements, then upgrade to the Juniper-recommended version and install the configuration.
The deployment time depends on the number of SRX devices. Usually, I can handle it alone. It takes two to three hours to deploy one SRX firewall.
The maintenance is moderately challenging.

The solution's deployment is actually ongoing. I had it up for once, but I upgraded it because it was a really old version of the OS. Currently, the biggest hurdle is that when you cross over to a new version, you have to occupy one port for management. In the previous version, I could select an in-line management instead of dedicated out-of-band management.
Now, I have to sacrifice one port for the management. It's not needed for my application, but now I am forced into having a management interface. I also noticed that several vulnerabilities have been discovered lately in the Juniper OS.
We implement the solution for our customers.

To finish the implementation, we had the help of the local provider, Ericsson.
From the design phase up to the implementation phase, it took more than one month per site. The time to validate the design documents and change, then doing those changes, approve those changes and implementing them. Because we have two sites, it was somewhere around three months.
After the acquisition phase, we discussed the plan and the design document. We did the architecture and design document with the vendor. Before going into the implementation phase, we have to validate all our documents for the high-level and low-level designs. The operational teams are also validating these documents.
Once we have all those documents validated, we request the approval for change. We have a committee who analyzes the documentation. We analyze the work that we are planning to do and validate the changes for a specific time.
We need to look if there any impact on the customer side, do we need to present it to the customer before making the change, and what is the plan for monitoring after the change?

Deployment time depends on the solution. This was a very complex one, so it took us four weeks to get the most complexity out of it. I think taking a single deployment, it would not be more than a couple of hours. If you are already working with Juniper products, it would be a couple of hours. If you're not working with Juniper products, maybe a week, not more than a week.
I did the implementation myself, I don't normally take help but in scenarios where documentation is not available, I do go ahead and refer it out but this was simple. I don't think I needed the technical support staff, but I have worked with Juniper tech for certain scenarios in integrating this. It was tax-supported, non-profit services.
