Easy to use, easy installation and can be installed on other servers or workstations

What is our primary use case?

We have been reselling Bitdefender for over twelve years now. Our primary use case for this solution is for a microfinance bank. They wanted a solution that can deliver security in the cloud. In fact, there was no other antivirus partner or manufacturer that has enterprise security that is hosted in the cloud. When they came to us, we told them that we have a solution that can do that, which is Bitdefender GravityZone. We told them exactly what it does: * You don't need to buy a separate server to deploy it, which is major savings for the bank. * It is hosted in the cloud. Because it is hosted… more »

Pros and Cons

  • "We have clients who are also migrating from other anti-virus solutions to GravityZone because of the ease of use, ease of installation and the fact that it can be deployed in the cloud and the same software; you can actually install on other server or workstation. It automatically knows what it's protecting."
  • "The pricing should be improved. The user interface has been improved on a yearly basis. The key issue is that they need to look at their pricing."

What other advice do I have?

My advice to somebody considering this solution would be to one, make sure that you get the exact model of the product you're looking for based on your environment. Two, you must ensure that you meet the minimum requirements because for Bitdefender if you don't meet the minimum requirements, it will not install. It will not install and if it does not install you will never know where the problem is coming from. I would rate Bitdefender a ten out of ten.

You can quickly locate exceptions and can configure process exceptions

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case is endpoint security. The product is my main endpoint, IP, and threat management.

Pros and Cons

  • "If the user leaves our premises or network, Palo Alto Traps will still be on that endpoint and will still apply our policies."
  • "Traps doesn't work with McAfee. You need to remove McAfee to install Traps. This is very common, and its nothing that should be an issue. Some antivirus engines recognize Traps as an threat component, so maybe they need to shake hands somewhere."

What other advice do I have?

Test normal behavior of the Traps agents (injection and policy) and confirm that there has been no change in the user experience.

Reliable solution that offers good performance and the latest protection

What is our primary use case?

I am working as an endpoint security consultant. I'm not only working on Symantec. I also work with Kaspersky, McAfee, and all other vendors. I found Symantec is the best.

Pros and Cons

  • "With Symantec, I always know this tool will be reliable and with the latest protection."
  • "If Symantec wants to improve, they should have a single event for all their products."

What other advice do I have?

In my personal experience, most people use Symantec. In my whole life, I couldn't find any problems with Symantec. In the ransomware protection, though, I found many issues. Many people were having infections but the virus sometimes was not detected. Even the Kaspersky software could not detect it, but if I install Symantec on any client I couldn't find the ransomware. The problem is Symantec is more expensive than other vendors. Kaspersky is in comparison very cheap. If you are working in an organization and you have 10,000 users, if you compare Symantec with the other vendors you will find…

Not just another simple virus-scanning product, but it does not handle removable USB drives well

What is our primary use case?

We use Intercept X Advanced along with Sophos EDR (Enhanced Data Detection and Response). We use it for our servers and clients as advanced protection. It is not just a simple virus scanning product. We use it to work with clients and it is installed on five servers. At this time we have only installed it at one customer site. But we plan to continue to expand.

Pros and Cons

  • "It is not just a simple virus scanning product. It handles more advanced needs."
  • "This product does not handle USB drives well."

What other advice do I have?

Advice that I would have for people considering using virus scanning is that I, personally, would not use Sophos Endpoints. That is the simplest edition of the Sophos virus protection product line. I would use Intercept X Advanced as the entry-level product as the other, simpler product, is not robust enough to provide acceptable protection for businesses in my estimation. On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate Sophos Intercept X as a seven. First, I never give a ten because every product can be improved. Second, I subtract two points because of my…

Easy to manage and deploy with a single-pane-of-glass to manage threats and updates

What is our primary use case?

CylancePROTECT came packaged with our HR and IT management system, which was a selling point. It allows us to ensure that every single computer is always up to date as far as vulnerability protection and we can manage all the threats and everything from a centralized dashboard.

Pros and Cons

  • "You can manage all the threats and everything from a centralized dashboard."
  • "It provides good insight into the programs, applications, or websites that may need attention."
  • "It is extremely simple to manage and deploy."
  • "The product does not do a lot of reporting on what it is taking care of. Enhanced reporting would be a welcome improvement."

What other advice do I have?

CylancePROTECT is going to tell you if there are any issues and you are going to be able to see everything from one single dashboard. If there are any issues on any computers across your whole architecture you will know about it. If there were advice that I would give to someone thinking about working with CylancePROTECT, I would just say it is extremely — extremely — simple to manage and deploy. On a scale of one to ten (where one is the worst and ten is the best), I would rate CylancePROTECT as a ten-out-of-ten as per our experience with it thus far.
