The antivirus, the firewall, and the network blocker features are valuable

How has it helped my organization?

It helps me with the security policies that I make. I can change policies quickly and easily.

Also, it stopped ransomware that other vendors could not catch.

What is most valuable?

The valuable features are the antivirus, the firewall, the network blocker, and application and device control.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see improvements in the device control features, which are limited.

I can block devices by the policy in the device control such as usb and cd but i can block devices like sound that not supported by Kaspersky
I would see update in the device control policy that let me add devices by its id
To control them by block or allow it
That will help the administrator for full control and will rate the kaspersky to be the number one in the field

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution since 2012.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There were no stability issues.

How are customer service and support?

Customer Service:

Customer service is excellent.

Technical Support:

I used technical support through a vendor and they were perfect.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Symantec Endpoint. I switched because it's weak against ransomware attacks and against email attachments containing viruses and Trojan horses.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy and I had no problem with it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing and licensing is good.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated other options like McAfee, Sophos, Symantec Endpoint, and FortiClient, but they weren’t good enough for me.

What other advice do I have?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business provides a full suite of endpoint security features in one easy-to-manage application. With this product deployed, administrators can ensure endpoints are protected from malware, as well as perform a host of functions, such as patch and systems management, encryption of both files and whole disks, and application control. Furthermore, this tool features mobile device management and security capabilities. All this functionality can be driven from a single management console that is well integrated with the existing enterprise infrastructure.

Kaspersky is the best antivirus software to this day, always was, always will (i hope so). It offers a great protection against viruses and spywares

Kaspersky Endpoint Security offers a powerful and robust system for securing systems in a business environment. Its scanning and detection engine handles most threats easily and is well developed to deal with new threats that continually come down the pipeline. The program is also easy to use as an end user. its encryption system does a very good job of securing sensitive files without a performance hit on most systems. Endpoint also has great administrative tools for setting up the program and for ongoing maintenance purposes. As an added plus, the program also works with other non-Windows systems which can be highly valuable in a mixed system OS environment.

Stable and innovative with great machine learning features
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is fairly technologically advanced and near the top of the market right now."
  • "The installation is technical. You need to be certified."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily offer it to clients for their business.

Kaspersky has four different kinds of products for endpoint security, and EDR is a mixture of all of those four products. On top of that, they have an artificial intelligence feature in it, and a machine-learning feature in it, as a new feature.

What is most valuable?

Kaspersky is pretty strong as a product in general.

The performance is very good. The product is fairly technologically advanced and near the top of the market right now.

The solution has very useful machine learning features.

The product is stable.

The scalability is very good.

What needs improvement?

It is a heavy solution and it's not for small networks.

The solution is pretty expensive.

The installation is technical. You need to be certified.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for a long time. I've used it for 13 years now. It's been over a decade at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have found the product to be stable. I haven't had issues with it crashing or freezing. There are no bugs or glitches. The performance has been great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product can scale as needed. It's not a problem.

I'd rate the capability to scale at an eight out of ten in general.

We have 30 or 40  customers who are using the product right now.

How are customer service and support?

The tech support is pretty good. They are knowledgeable and responsive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I deal with a few different solutions. So as far as Kaspersky is concerned, it is on the top of the list right now. I would say Kaspersky, Trend Micro, and Carbon Black, these three, are the very top. Technology-wise and performance-wise, they are very good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup requires a certified Kaspersky technical person. It's not an installation just anyone in IT can pull off. It's not like some solutions where you just do a few clicks and you are up and running. It's an involved process. You need a strong knowledge base.

You need at least two technical people (engineers) for deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's costly and heavy. Price-wise, it's expensive.

In order to use the EDR, you must have a very strong server as well. So that's where you have to add the cost for the server machines, and that's where you implement the EDR as well. While the EDR itself is probably not that expensive, altogether, with the servers needed, it becomes a costly solution.

Users need to pay a yearly licensing fee.

What other advice do I have?

We are resellers.

The solution has both on-premises and cloud deployment options. Many clients are moving towards the cloud as a deployment preference.

I would definitely recommend EDR to any networks that have over 300 users.

I would rate the solution at a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Easy to deploy, run and maintain
Pros and Cons
  • "The feature that I have found most valuable is its deployment. It is easy to centrally deploy. You can deploy it on the Administration Console then deploy it to the different endpoint machines without specifically deploying it manually on each machine. Its deployment is really user friendly."
  • "There are quite a number of areas for improvement. The first area for improvement is that I find this solution to be very resource intensive when you're running a particular task, even a mere scanning task, even though it's running in the background. When you go to inspect the resources you realize it makes the machine very slow. It takes up a lot of resources even though there are no particular scanning tasks scheduled to run. That's one of the issues."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for Kaspersky Endpoint Security is to protect our endpoint machines and ideally we are also looking at protecting our server. However, I had challenges deploying it to the servers. It was making them really slow.

What is most valuable?

The feature that I have found most valuable is its deployment. It is easy to centrally deploy. You can deploy it on the Administration Console then deploy it to the different endpoint machines without specifically deploying it manually on each machine. Its deployment is really user friendly.

Additionally, scheduled tasks like scanning and safe rules, taking rules and grouping the different machines, being able to pick updates automatically and deploy them remotely are generally very easy, though we've had some challenges.

What needs improvement?

There are quite a number of areas for improvement. That's one of the issues.

The second area for improvement had to do with machines at one point being unable to communicate with the Central Server or the Heartbeat.

Another issue is related to installations. There is a feature for remotely deploying the solution on your endpoint machines, but some machines can fail. There was a particular incident where I needed to reinstall the solution again and it wasn't uninstalling. So the uninstallation process was a bit challenging. I had to install the machine again manually. They were Windows machines so I had to go and restore the machine again. Uninstalling it and reinstalling it on some machines can be a bit challenging.

Additionally, the way it handles threats is an area for improvement. Suppose there is a particular threat that has been detected, maybe someone inserted their flash drive or something. It does not give me an option to configure. I don't know if I was doing it right so that the threat is neutralized without me having to log on to the Administration Console. Then you go to Active Threats and manually delete that threat. I thought it would be intelligent enough. For instance, if I compare it to the Defend, if the flash drive has a virus it'll delete it automatically or quarantine it and give me a notification. Here, I don't get notifications. There is no feature providing me with real time notifications. I have to manually go to the Administration Console, log on and try to view if there are active threats on the network.

There is also the issue of synchronization with the Active Directory particularly if I'm using the Linux server. Sometimes you have a machine you have deleted from the Active Directory or disconnected from the network but that machine is still appearing in the Administration Console and you have to delete it manually. These are some of the challenges we meet with Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

In terms of what I would like to see in the next release, I would like it to be a bit lighter. I've used a couple of other solutions and I find them lighter to use than Kaspersky. Kaspersky really has to improve on that aspect of making sure that it's not consuming a lot of resources.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for the last five years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security is scalable.

How are customer service and technical support?

Normally, we don't contact tech support directly. We rely on the partner here who supplies the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our license is a paid license which we pay annually. Every year we have been renewing the licenses.

I don't have any issues with the price. I think the pricing is fair.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have been using Kaspersky Endpoint for Business Advanced. We are making a switch over to Sophos Intercept Advanced.

What other advice do I have?

On a scale of one to ten, I would give Kaspersky Endpoint Security an eight.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Enables us to reduce costs and offers manufacturing control
Pros and Cons
  • "The advice I would give someone implementing this solution is that the management of the solution is very easy. You don't need a lot of people to manage the solution."
  • "This solution needs improvement in the reporting section. Reporting in Kaspersky Endpoint is good but it's not that great. The platform needs to centralize reporting control."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Kaspersky Endpoint Security. There are two products:

  1. Kaspersky Skill Center (supply management)
  2. Kaspersky Endpoint Security

We use Kaspersky Endpoint Security for manual production and supply production. We also use it for additional control in manufacturing.

How has it helped my organization?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security did help us a little but there were still some problems. For example, we had problems in processing payment issues from the gateway country.

Overall, we implemented Kaspersky Endpoint Security because it enabled us to reduce costs.

What is most valuable?

The manual production is what drew us to Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

What needs improvement?

This solution needs improvement in the reporting section. Reporting in Kaspersky Endpoint is good but it's not that great. The platform needs to centralize reporting control.

They should include some BMP features, like a BD board or MP board and some D&B company in the near future. That would be good.

For how long have I used the solution?

Three to five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is very stable and we haven't faced any issues as of now.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of Kaspersky Endpoint Security is very simple and easy. You don't need to buy a separate server or hardware. It can easily be configured.

Right now we have more than 4,500 users. Two staff members are required to maintain the solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support with Kaspersky is really good. The response from customer support is on time. We have a Kaspersky support license, so our response time is almost two hours.

Usually, with Kaspersky customer support, we will have a solution within two hours.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have seven countries under us. Some of the countries were using McAfee and some of the countries were using Symantec.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward. The deployment took only two machines and was completed in less than a month.

What about the implementation team?

We used an integrator company and the experience was very good.

What was our ROI?

For ROI, we are working on some issues. Kaspersky has helped a lot. We get feeds from all over the world. We have to log these and find integrity checks in our industry.

This is also some regulatory requirement. In the end, it's also helped us plan our contribution as well. For our part, Kaspersky Endpoint Security has helped us a lot.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our license for Kaspersky Endpoint Security is on a yearly basis. We have a yearly subscription. They have multiple options available at no additional costs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The remote management and new client process, plus the support, led us to Kaspersky. We are very satisfied with Kaspersky products.

In the latest tests, there were some issues there. We had decided to go with Kasperksy, but we reevaluated McAfee, Symantec, and other solutions. In the end, we chose Kasperksy.

What other advice do I have?

The advice I would give someone implementing this solution is that the management of the solution is very easy. You don't need a lot of people to manage the solution.

Everything can be done with Kaspersky Endpoint Security. The good thing is that the epicenter of support staff doesn't have to go climbing through the issues.

They make it very easy for us to manage solutions. I would rate it 8.5 out of 10.

What is our primary use case?

We use Kaspersky Endpoint Security for user protection.

This product is stable.

Our team has done some automating and set up auto-maintenance.

Uses little processing power, is quite stable, and has an easy initial setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has been quite stable."
  • "The solution could be more secure."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for version and device control. That's why we have moved to Kaspersky. It's meant to be assisting us with device and control issues.

What is most valuable?

The solution is light. It's is easy on the client-side, and even on the server. It doesn't take much processing power. There's no bottleneck of the applications.

We have the ability to restrict users and third-party VPNs. We have control over the user and application access and have put in place policy-based safeguards also.

The solution has been quite stable.

The scalability is good.

We have found the initial setup to be rather straightforward.

What needs improvement?

We found that, for some reason, some site URLs were being blocked in Kaspersky. However, we have since found a solution. As it stands now, the URL opening issue has been resolved on our end.

The solution could be more secure.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Kaspersky for almost two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good. The performance is reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

In head office, we are using the product on the client end for about 100 plus people. On the server end, we use it as well for about 60.

How are customer service and support?

We've never contacted technical support as we have not found any complexity regarding the product. It's a product that is easy to deploy and control.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are also using Symantec. While we have been using Kaspersky for about two years, we've used Symantec for around eight to ten years.

We also leverage a Cisco-based firewall to increase security.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is very straightforward and simple. It's not difficult. A company shouldn't have any issues with the process.

We have two personnel that handle deployment and maintenance. One is currently managing it, and the other is managing the client end.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have a yearly license with Kaspersky currently. It has already gotten renewed after its first expiry. We will renew it. When we renew it, we tend to make sure it's also as up-to-date as possible.

What other advice do I have?

We have the latest version of the solution installed currently.

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten overall. We are quite happy with its capabilities so far.

I would recommend the solution to other users and organizations.
