What do you think of A10 Networks Thunder ADC?

Primary Use Case Carrier-grade NAT is the purpose of using A10 Networks Thunder ADC at Turk Telekom Mobile. • Improvements to My Organization It solved the CGNAT performance issues and, within two years, it had no problems and no outages. • Valuable Features The Deterministic CGNAT feature. • Room for Improvement I would like to see the scalability numbers for the virtualized version which are comparable to those I noted in my answer on "Scalability." • Use of Solution One to three years. • Stability Issues Every six months we made active-passive changes and upgraded to the latest version of the firmware. What is most valuable?

Advanced traffic rules, including stick tables and ACLs, which allow me to shape traffic while it's load balanced. Performance configuration options with threads, processes, and core stickiness are also very valuable.

How has it helped my organization?

I can simplify configurations of many internal services (e.g. Web server configs) by moving some elements (like SSL) to HAProxy. I can also disable additional applications, like Varnish, by moving traffic shaping configurations to HAProxy.

What needs improvement?

In my opinion, there are three main areas to improve: * Make remote management more modern by adding API. * Propose a general HA solution for HAProxy (no I'm using keepalived for this). * Thread option should be a bit more stable.

What is most valuable?

Most important for us that it makes sure that the load is distributed and that we always have access to the end-servers that they're connected to. We need that to make sure that we have a consistent, high level of service that the schools can rely on.

How has it helped my organization?

It was part of a project that we did where we used to outsource all of the web-filtering to a third party. We weren't very happy with it. We wanted to bring everything in-house, control the system ourselves. This is an absolute key component to being able to allow us to do that.
