Malwarebytes Other Advice

ER
Systems Administrator at a legal firm with 51-200 employees

If you're a small company with less than 500 people, the Malwarebytes EDR solution is a good fit. It is also a good solution if:

  • You don't have any DOD requirements for your data.
  • You don't have a lot of PPI.
  • You don't have a lot of confidential documents in your environment.

If you have strict DOD regulations or something like that, you might want to look at Carbon Black and Trend Micro.

I would rate Malwarebytes an eight out of ten.

Based on a lot of the research that we've done, especially for small to medium businesses, it seems like there are a lot of other solutions out there that have as good or slightly more features and are a lot cheaper.

I'd give it a solid seven out of 10. It is a very effective solution for us, and it meets a lot of our needs. It doesn't meet all of them, but it does meet a lot of our needs. Based on the ROI on cost and seeing other things out there that are a lot cheaper but equivalent or possibly a little better in terms of features, we most likely will be moving away from the product.

I would advise others on the installation process. Resource utilization is low compared to others, especially in terms of CPU and memory. It also has powerful features.

Regarding the threat detection and verification part, I would give it a nine out of ten. We only deploy it when needed, which might be once every three months.

My company provides cybersecurity consulting services. I have partnerships and mutual respect with both companies Sophos, and FortiClient.

I would also be involved in potential resell.

I go through the technical training they provide to become certified to support it. And I actively use both products with various customers that I work with.

I believe my use case is ideal because I'm using it as a backup set of tools. That basically allows me to go in and see if something doesn't seem to be working properly. We can see what Malwarebytes discovers. That is my primary use case.

10 would indicate that I am absolutely certain that 100% of the problem has been solved. And in security, nothing is ever guaranteed.

I would rate Malwarebytes an eight out of ten.

I would rate this solution a ten out of ten; it's never let us down as far as protecting our endpoints.

Even though we're satisfied with the product, we don't like the bait-and-switch pricing style. We have the highest level premium version of the product, but when they add new features to the portal and we click on them, we get a message saying, ''Contact your sales representative'' meaning they want us to pay more. We will be considering other options when the contract is up for renewal. That doesn't necessarily mean we will switch to another product, but we will look at alternatives.

Malwarebytes provides features like device control, scan engine, malware protection, ransomware protection, rollback features, and managed detection and response. The tool also provides features like integrated patch management, vulnerability assessment, and DNS filtering. If any of my customers prefer Malwarebytes, they can have the complete package.

I recommend the product if it fits the budget of those planning to use it. It's a good product. They can have clear visibility on the endpoints since it helps them protect from ransomware and other advanced threats. Malwarebytes is an affordable tool. One can use it, especially if someone doesn't have a high budget, since it helps fulfill the basic requirements.

Malwarebytes is not there in the reports from Gartner or IDC. They have their own labs to test their products. In general, they don't have any third-party reports as of now. Malwarebytes was previously included in one of the reports from Gartner. I think Malwarebytes doesn't participate in the reports from Gartner. If we look at the market trends and the industry, most customers look at Gartner's reports to identify whether a product is a leader, challenger, or a big product, depending on which they choose. If Malwarebytes was included in reports from Gartner, I would have rated the tool an eight or nine out of ten.

Overall, I rate the tool a seven out of ten.

People planning to use the product must have patience. They must familiarize themselves with the product before they judge it. There’s a learning curve. Overall, I rate the solution an eight and a half out of ten.

I am a customer.

I'm not sure which version of the solution we're using.

It's very good, however, it has not covered all of the areas that I want to cover and make.

I'm a cybersecurity manager. My goal is to detect, respond, and prevent and to do that I need to use only one tool or to minimize the number of tools I'm using and my team is using. I want to minimize the number of team members that will work in cybersecurity as well. I need a solution that includes a lot of modules that can cover most of my requirements.

That said, if you want a very good antivirus and a basic easy functionality, which is a very cheap price, it would be Malwarebytes.

As an antivirus, I would rate the product nine out of ten, however, as an EDR, I'd only rate it five out of ten. Overall, I would rate it seven out of ten.

I like Malwarebytes, however, I am moving to another product as I need functionality and features, and it's not exactly the right product for me now.

Cyber Security Team Lead (Endpoint) at a manufacturing company with 10,001+ employees

I would rate Malwarebytes eight out of 10 if I'm judging it by the standards of traditional endpoint protection or NextGen AV solution. When it comes to frontend protections, it has some of the best definitions. In addition, they do traditional signature and heuristic detection a lot better than Microsoft and some other players in that space. But if you're lumping it in with other EDR solutions, it's a zero.

If you plan to use Malwarebytes, I suggest utilizing its auto-patching mechanism as much as possible and aggressively keeping it up to date.

We're resellers and customers. We use it in our organization and we also sell it. We sell the solution when we think it is the correct option for our client, and as long as a client doesn't come with a special request. Obviously, we sell what the clients want and what is in their best interest.

We're using the latest version of the solution. We're paying a subscription and therefore the updates are automatically added.

The product is great. It's straightforward and it does what we need it to do.

Overall, I would rate the product at an eight out of ten.

It is a fantastic product, and you should consider evaluating it. It is an easy product to use. We haven't had an incident where we needed to use it. So, I can't say for sure, but I'm making an assumption that the product will do what it needs to do when the time comes. Considering the overall management of the system and seeing what is being protected, it is doing a great job.

I would certainly rate it a nine out of 10.

I would recommend organizations in areas with low bandwidth to consider using the on-premises version of this solution. This will help avoid delays in updates via the cloud, as that depends on high internet speeds being available.

I would rate this solution a four out of ten.

It's worthwhile doing a case study and testing the solution in your environment and comparing results between different products. We have a lot of virus spyware exploit samples that we keep just for testing purposes, and we use the same consistent standard to test it. In our case, the result was that Malwarebytes came out on top of the others.

Malwarebytes isn't yet perfect for a lot of endpoint solutions. From a cloud-based management perspective, there are still issues with endpoint isolations and automated remediations. It requires some fine-tuning even though it comes out on top in terms of performance.

We're just a customer and end-user. We don't have any special association with the company.

Malwarebytes provides the cloud for our organization. I'm not sure of the version number is of the solution we are currently using.

For a company with about 100 or more PC units, the solution is quite effective. It makes monitoring easy. There's also a lot of reporting that can be done, and the solution provides protection for a lot of applications including Windows and Zoom.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

AS
Cyber Security Engineer at a tech services company with 11-50 employees

I have a lot of baggage with this product because of problems I have with the customers, the implementation, the configuration, the settings — it is very, very troublesome. There are various players on the course now. Some solutions may perform better.

I have had a bad experience with Malwarebyte in general. There are a lot of issues I have caught. I wrote these issues down to compile them and then I sent the information to Malwarebyte. Over some time, there was no improvement from the research and development or technical support from this vendor. I have only a few words about this product: It is not good yet. But they have also show almost no interest in improving it.

The proxy setting is a very nice feature. But, with that, you can not remove the proxy settings for the clients who are going out of the office for travel. You have to go to each laptop and write a manual cmd (command line) script to remove the proxy settings. It should not be done this way. It is just another example.

On a scale from one to ten with one being the worst and ten being the best, I would rate this product as a one-and-a-half. It is one of the worst products which I have ever used. If I have to choose a whole number it does not round up, it will round down to a one.

The product is a client on my system at the moment. I think it gets a lot of its information, its virus signatures, things like that, from a cloud service. I can see that it takes a second to download new virus signatures and things. It's obviously getting its information from their website, so the real intelligence is based remotely.

I would very highly recommend this product and would rate it an eight out of 10.

I'm just a user and a customer. I don't have a professional relationship with the solution.

I'm using the latest version of the solution. I've lost the real-time scanning, so I use McAfee for that. I use Malwarebytes as a backup, an alternative antivirus. If I think my system's got something wrong with it, I'll scan it on McAfee, and then I'll scan it on Malwarebytes as well. There's a difference.

I commonly recommend Malwarebytes to people due to the fact that I find it quite reliable.

All things considered, I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. It's not like the big boys - the TrendMicros, Symantecs or CrowdStrikes. It doesn't necessarily compete well in those market areas.

We've never resold Malwarebytes. We've just worked with customers that had already begun using it.

This is one of the best solutions for ransomware.

It deploys as one would expect, and it manages as one would hope.

It's perfectly fine for small to mid-tier organizations and I would say that it works as advertised.

I'd give them an eight out of ten. Sophos Intercept X is probably technologically more rigorous and it has some technical advantages for Sophos users in that that it can integrate with the firewalls and have incident response capabilities. However, Malwarebytes is perfectly fine on its own.

Malwarebytes offers robust security features and implements innovative functionalities. For instance, it allows users to check if their email addresses are mentioned on compromised sites.

It has a user-friendly interface. I recommend it for commercial organizations. For non-commercial organizations, Microsoft Defender is more suitable.
