MathWorks Matlab Scalability

This is not exactly a limitation on scalability but the licensing structure from MATLAB and the policies of our company do not promote scaling within our organization. If we have definite goals and can show them, we can buy licenses for everyone who needs it, but currently, it is not the case that we need to scale. If the licensing structure were more flexible, we could justify buying more licenses and more users could learn and utilize the tool. For me, I can deploy self-executable files that control sharing my data to a particular computer. So the utility is not completely bound on my computer even though the license is bound. Some functionality is bound to the licensed user's machine, but it can be used for many other things. For example, general functionalities — like transferring data — are not bound to the licensed machine. You just need to install a package of software on the target machines, like a library, and it just works like a miracle. We have about 20 users are using this solution within our project approximately. But in technical development, we might have 500 total. I don't know exactly. View full review »
