NA

What is most valuable?

Scenario comparison is the feature most valuable to us and the reason why we decided to choose HPE PPM over other portfolio management products.

How has it helped my organization?

We are now more ready to consolidate and analyze our long term planning portfolio and understand our financial and resource levels before making investment decisions. We… more»

What needs improvement?

User interface continues to be poor. The product does not have a similar view in the different modules, e.g., staffing vs financial management, it looks like you are… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Poor management of licensing through a third party. With our first purchase, we were sold and paid for licenses we could not use, due to poor configuration of quotation… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

No. We used internal Excel files with macros.

What other advice do I have?

Be ready to have a lot of complaints from the end users in terms of usability and not a high level of responsiveness from technical support and R&D. Do not expect R&D to… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, we used a benchmark study and evaluated different options. One of the main constraints was that HPE and HPI were the same company back then when we implemented. This… more»

What is most valuable?

The number of different things which it is able to do. There are so many different pieces of functionality, and we use almost every single piece from deployment to demand, project, resource, and time management.

How has it helped my organization?

We're using all of it, and we integrate it with other systems. We migrate code for PeopleSoft, creating purchase orders, etc. So we're using the application for all kinds of crazy things.

What needs improvement?

We don't really use some of the things that they are improving, because we're still very much waterfall vs agile. A lot of the new functionality that they are adding for agile doesn't pertain to us. However, we constantly put in requests for some of the things we need. One of those is being able to… more»

What other advice do I have?

It's very good as far as not needing to be restarted on a regular basis, not having mod files fill up, the number of issues, the number of tickets I have received from users with complaints, and its ease of use. Where I see improvement is more my experience with support and with the Micro Focus… more»

What is most valuable?

How has it helped my organization?

We gained analytics about where the bottlenecks are, increased accurate decision making, and it provides us with several "versus" visibility.

What needs improvement?

Portfolio management, hybrid project management, top-down budget and resource planning, application portfolio management.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Power license must be divided. Administration and project management shouldn't be in the same package.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

No.

What other advice do I have?

Keep it simple, of course. Apply phased or sprint based approach. Not Big Bang.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

CA Clarity, IBM, and Microsoft. Did not evaluate Planview that time.

What needs improvement?

* Budget management could be provided. * Reports could be enriched.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Not applicable.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We used to use Excel before. We needed a structural tool to manage our projects.

What other advice do I have?

It has a parametric infrastructure. This provides efficiency while managing the projects and demands. At the same time, PPM customization is very easy to use, so saving… more»

What is most valuable?

* Project management * Resource management * Program management The workflow and project planning features are good. Highly customizable workflow is the best one of them.

How has it helped my organization?

Able to manage multimillion projects and resources more effectively. Though the staffing profile is difficult to manage and update, the enforcement made us create resource plans and do demand-allocation gap analysis much better.

What needs improvement?

* Better user interface. * Usability in terms of better UX. Resource managers often request the Excel like features for allocation. Though not equal, but almost close features are expected. Buying add-ons for that is not worth it.
