Microsoft Project Primary Use Case
Our company uses the solution for a project at our on-premises data center. We have one data room database and one mobile active account.
We have 100 users in our head office who use Microsoft in our database and desktop application. A total of 5,000 employees use their mobile phones while working in the field.
We will soon launch another project in the cloud.

Our company uses the solution to get realistic estimations to properly distribute resources. We have a huge portfolio and use the online premium version. One current project is with a client who has 150 users.
The solution estimates workflow for concurrent activities, links dependencies, and automatically modifies plans based on date updates. The plan is assessed based on different criteria such as the schedule or budget.
Built-in dashboards provide an overview of our portfolio, programs, and projects. There is a general work view and an overall progress view that combines all projects.

View full review »We're using Microsoft Project on multiple tiers to perform inventory optimization, production planning, and purchasing.st built the project a week ago using Microsoft Project from start to finish. We built in all the functionality we have to cover. All the updates, action items, etc., are in there.
In my previous position with a leading 3PL, the provider of our warehouse management system, Blue Yonder, used Project. Nevertheless, it was seamless to integrate a Project file because Smartsheet offers the ability to upload MPP files. But at the same time, we would make changes and adjustments with Project. I'm currently using Microsoft Project for all my projects.

Microsoft Project can be used for a variety of purposes, one of which is creating a Gantt diagram. This feature is particularly useful for projects that require establishing a timeline and determining the duration of each task. Additionally, Microsoft Project can be integrated with cloud solutions, such as Teams and Insight, making it a valuable tool for collaborative projects. By integrating with Teams, you can share tasks with team members and collaborate more efficiently. Integrating with Insight allows you to gather data and insights about your project, enabling you to make informed decisions and improve your project management process.

We store many things on Teams. We can make objections or put things in SharePoint.
Nine team members in our department use the solution. Previously, we used only on-premises but now we are using both on-premises and the cloud service.

Microsoft Project is one of the main tools our teams abroad use for planning, and it's very flexible. Local teams use it to manage small projects locally. It's also a repository for storing financial information that we don't want to track down.
Teams use Microsoft Project for tracking tasks, managing requests, assigning resources, and following up. Workers can submit work to managers for approval and then it's submitted to the main process.

My primary use case is mainly to get down on paper the steps for our project - including who's responsible for them. We use it as a communication tool and then we (on a regular basis) review progress against the laid-out project plan or schedule.
I tend to step in and create schedules when project managers are too busy or oftentimes I'll create the initial schedule due to the fact that I know all the stuff that needs to go in it, and the project manager may or may not know that.

I mostly use it for big projects and rolling out solutions. I have used it for rolling out a new POS system, clientele programs, and clientele loyalty. I have also used it for process changes that impact multiple departments, and there are key players in it to keep everybody on track. Once we move forward with a new forecasting tool, I would use it for that.
Over the last couple of years, it has been more of the newer version with it. I'm really basic with it because of the end-users. It means that I use it for all the pieces on certain things, but when it comes to the output, it is pretty basic for the end-users. It is an easy read for the end-users.

We basically use the solution to get a clear sense of the project and break down everything into a schedule. If there are overlapping schedules, we plan everything out and add in all the information so the roadmap is clear. We often have different teams coming in at different times, so we need to ensure that our critical path is clear and that we are able to execute on the project from an agile perspective.
We need to be sure that we have all the backlogs and scheduling and can pull in the customer on the deliverable as necessary. We'll check with them and fine-tune everything so that we can run the sprints successfully and match them up with the project plan using Microsoft Project.
