There was a partial implementation of Primavera, which was primarily used by our IT group for timesheets. We were probably only using 5% of the capabilities of the product, but in terms of cost-effectiveness and overall usability within our infrastructure, Project Server became a better option. Prior to that, we had standalone project plans using MS Project, a standalone client, and spreadsheets.

Asana and monday.com provide faster customer service responses compared to MS Project. Among them, monday.com stands out for its promptness, while both surpass MS Project in responsiveness. This highlights the need for MS Project to enhance its support system and streamline the user experience in handling technical challenges. MS Project's speed falls below expectations; it's notably slow and often requires reloading. The dashboard is not user-friendly, leading to considerable time spent on training people to use it effectively. In contrast, Asana and monday.com stand out at the top of the league in terms of speed and user-friendliness.

Manager project schedule and ressources at a pharma/biotech company with 10,001+ employees
We still use Primavera and it is better at managing large projects than Microsoft Project Server. Additionally, we have used Microsoft Project Desktop and Excel for project management. It was not ideal because we were using Excel for reporting and people were able to cheat on their reports. With this solution, it is more difficult to alter the information to cheat the system.

I have used Primavera before. In comparison to Microsoft Project Server, it has a complicated interface.

We previously used a different solution called Clarity. We switched to Microsoft Project Server because Clarity was an expensive solution.

It was our company's decision to switch to this. With my previous employer, I have used different solutions. Smartsheet is one of them.

I used to use Clarity for our Agile projects, however, this solution is less expensive.
Clarity is good, however, it is complicated to use as it makes it more challenging for the final users to understand the project plans. Also, the templates to manage the project plans are complicated. I like Microsoft Project better than Clarity.

MS Project standalone version and SharePoint repositories were our previous solutions.

We were geared up to implement Planview’s product when the opportunity arose for us to look at MS Project Server. While Planview is a great portfolio management tool, its project management is weak.

I may have used a different solution, however, I cannot recall which solution. We're a new department. We didn't switch from something per se.
View full review »I did not previously use a different solution. Some customers use Excel to drive projects, some of them use Primavera or some cloud-based products like Trilio, etc.

We have experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
We use SQL, Azure SQL, and Windows Server.
We've always used Project to some extent, but it was more stand-alone rather than enterprise. Now we're on an enterprise scheme, it's much more helpful because we've got a global 3D view of projects.
There are several criteria I look for when selecting a vendor:
- ease of use
- expandability
- resource-leveling
- cost of ownership, obviously
- support needed.
They're the key things.
We did not use any previous solution.
