What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is ease of use.

What needs improvement?

While it's not expensive, the pricing could always be better.

I would like to see a web-based interface, instead of client installation to refresh the UI through HTML.

When comparing with other vendors offering applications not with a client module, but through the web through HTML, this should be the next step for Microsoft.

We primarily use this product for application virtualization and application sharing.

High performance, scalable, and reliable

Pros and Cons

  • "The performance is one of the main features of this solution."
  • "In a future release, they could improve by providing more advanced technology and better buffering for if the connection is degraded or lost."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Microsoft Remote Desktop Services in one of our departments and we connect to our applications through this solution remotely.

What is most valuable?

The performance is one of the main features of this solution.

What needs improvement?

In a future release, they could improve by providing more advanced technology and better buffering for if the connection is degraded or lost. For example, if I am connected on my LAN or WAN, and there is any latency in the network while I am connected it will stay connected for one or two minutes. Without any buffering, the connection will be disconnected, and the work is lost.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for approximately six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have found the solution to be scalable.

What about the implementation team?

Our IT team of three engineers did the implementation of this solution and they also provide the maintenance.

We are in the process of testing whether this solution will operate on a system with low RAM.

I recommend this solution to others.

A secure solution for desktop virtualization, but the user experience needs improvement

Pros and Cons

  • "The most valuable features are availability and security."
  • "We are searching for a product with better remote access and remote sessions."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Cisco AnyConnect to create a VPN that Microsoft Remote Desktop Services uses to connect to and control a remote computer.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are availability and security.

What needs improvement?

We are searching for a product with better remote access and remote sessions.

The user experience needs improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

We are only using Microsoft RDS on a temporary basis for people to work remotely during the COVID-19 crisis.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is limited to small and medium-sized organizations.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support from Microsoft is very good.

What other advice do I have?

Remote work is getting bigger and bigger and we are searching for a new solution that is more secure and provides more remote access features.

This is a good solution but Microsoft is not number one in the market for VDI. I would recommend it for a small to medium-sized business, but not for an enterprise-level company.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Has a good profile in the new version but it needs better monitoring abilities

Pros and Cons

  • "The DB card needs improvement. I have a lot of experience with other competitors and Citrix is better than VMware and Microsoft. Citrix has more extensive features."

What is most valuable?

In terms of the valuable features, I like the profile, the new version is really good.

What needs improvement?

The DB card needs improvement. I have a lot of experience with other competitors and Citrix is better than VMware and Microsoft. Citrix has more extensive features.

For how long have I used the solution?

How are customer service and technical support?

I haven't had to reach out to support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is fair. Our customers are satisfied.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Microsoft Remote Desktop Services a seven out of ten.

In the next release, there should be one management console to manage all of the servers and rules. That would be a good improvement.

It also needs a better tool for monitoring. We need to test the user experience.
