MikroTik Cloud Router Switch Previous Solutions

I'm also familiar with Cisco which I used at another company.

Cisco is a little bit expensive to acquire. With MikroTik, came with the same solution and you can use so many features. In MikroTik, you can use maybe two routers or one router to cover all your requirements, which you can also do on Cisco. This product is also cheaper than Cisco.

Cisco has a lot of complications even with the configurations. On the price issues or even support issues, you may need to have so many routers when using Cisco for a simple solution. If you can use only one switch to clear your solution, why don't you use MikroTik? You don't have to use Cisco to have more than one switch to solve your problem.

I have worked with solutions from Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet. The type of project dictates which product works best in the environment.

I also am familiar with Cisco.

We chose this product as it fits our requirements and we have a different type of environment. We are using the small MikroTik Router for our branches. On the branch side, we have multiple VLANs. We have to configure multiple environments like the video and the data. It is easy to configure and easy to manage the device. We do not require additional hardware the way we would with Cisco. If you have a Cisco router, you can configure the ports, and, after that, you have to put in some Cisco switches and you have to configure the VLANs and so on. The MikroTik solution is an independent solution and with each port, we can configure it according to your requirements.

Juniper's hardware is pretty good, and the life of the product is very long. It has an eight year lifespan. MikroTik has a three to five year maximum lifespan.

Juniper also has scalability stacking of all the features. The larger companies, particularly Airtel and Reliance, are also using it. It's not a basic thing because the price point market is there in India. So, Juniper will not go to the lower segment of the market but is still in the highest segment of ISPs and big telcos.

We also work with Cisco.

With Cisco products and the cloud aspect of them, I've not been able to do everything I've needed. However, in the normal Cisco Router, I've worked with, it's okay. It's nice. It's pretty secure. The challenge is remembering the codes for the CLI commands. That's the only challenge.

Before using MikroTik, we used a lot of Cisco and HP solutions. I switched to MikroTik because it provided me a much better cost performance solution. It does everything that the HPs and Ciscos do, but at a fraction of the cost, and it doesn't relapse.
