Easy to configure and troubleshoot, but they need more visibility in the licensing model

What is our primary use case?

We use these routers to connect our customers. We use them for client access, and we use them in the network core. We also use them on the edge, for security. We have some of their security products sitting at the edge of our network, and we use Huawei laptops to connect our customers from their premises. Sometimes, they use their own on-premises equipment. We have the big NE40-X8 and NE5000E routers everywhere in our infrastructure. In addition to the network core, this includes the client edge, client access edge, and we had them at the internet edge. We also use their Huawei equipment for… more »

Pros and Cons

  • "The configuration syntax makes it easy for us to configure the device and perform troubleshooting when needed."
  • "Essentially, they need to open their licensing model such that when a customer buys a device, they have a full view of all of the available licenses for it."

What other advice do I have?

I like to use this product and most of our deployments are now products from Huawei. We don't have any problems with these routers. I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

A stable product that offers enhanced security via machine learning assessment tools

What is our primary use case?

My team is in charge of auditing the security infrastructure of these routers. I perform penetration testing and blue teaming in pursuit of this effort. Our customers for this product are typically government departments. In the current project, we are designing smart cities, in which these routers are part of the infrastructure.

Pros and Cons

  • "The most valuable feature is the artificial intelligence assessment models."
  • "There should be a system in place to help existing users make an easier transition to the newer interfaces."

What other advice do I have?

In summary, this is a good product and I recommend it. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

A flexible solution that is suitable in many different networking environments

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution to build networks that interconnect different branches and buildings in different layers. We can also connect to a cloud environment. The model of switch that is used depends on the application. I prefer to use the 4500 series for the distribution layer, but for the access layer, the 2950 series is better.

Pros and Cons

  • "The most important feature related to this solution is that most of the time, it covers all of what we need for our projects."
  • "In the future, I would like to see more focus on software-defined networking solutions."

What other advice do I have?

Cisco is a market leader in this product. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

A reliable edge routing that has scaled with my needs

What is our primary use case?

We are a wireless internet service provider that distributes internet service. We deal with two different service providers and the hardware we use includes Juniper Enterprise Routers. This product is being used as my edge router.

Pros and Cons

  • "The most valuable feature is reliability."
  • "The web interface can be improved."

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a very good product. It is a very stable solution and I can recommend it. The only difficulty is that it is hard to set up. I would rate this solution and eight out of ten.
