Mirantis Container Cloud Valuable Features

Danila Kliachkovski - PeerSpot reviewer

One of the most valuable feature is its scalability because it is easy to work with. Even though I haven't fully removed it before, it's simple to get started and develop further. It's comparable to working with languages like C++ and Python. Python. It is easy to understand and more user-friendly.

I like the deployment automation. I can deploy whenever I want based on the environment, and I can easily roll back to a previous version for testing. Also, the scalability is great. If there's a usage spike, I can easily adjust resources.

When you have Kubernetes, you can use Mirantis Container Cloud to manage your Kubernetes for easy access and security. It also helps you to manage your CI/CD system. It helps you to build a container-oriented developer workflow. So, if you're building an application in Kubernetes, it provides you with a Kubernetes engine. They also have a product called Mirantis OpenStack. OpenStack is a platform where you can manage your cloud environment.

Mirantis Kubernetes Engine is very valuable. You can build and run your applications with Mirantis Kubernetes Engine. The next best thing they have is Mirantis OpenStack. It's a Mirantis product. It's an open-source cloud computing platform. It's mostly deployed as infrastructure-as-a-service in both public and private clouds where you can run not just continuous but also your virtual servers. So, any of the resources can be made available to the users.

The main Docker feature is the repository where you can store images.T he image is available and you can read parts of those images. You can use it for your local development and QAs. That's the most basic Docker basic feature.

Secondly, we like the footprint that Docker requires to construct an environment.

The third most important aspect is maintenance. You won't have to rely on third-party support. If you have the full environment control, you will be able to maintain Docker containers on your own. Or you can just destroy them and construct a new container, i.e. add them when you want to, ephemeral and mutable objects.

Different features, but the most valuable is Docker images that allows you to build your own image and upload it to a repository, and use it again anytime.

Another feature which is Docker scaling using a docker-compose file: It's very simple and easy to use in preventing any human interaction.

The last one is Docker Swarm that manages a cluster of Docker Engines.

I think the volume binding is a really interesting feature. For example, if you're running a Mirantis container on your host machine, you can bind a directory of files by the container and use the overlay file system.

Swarm is quite okay for smaller cases. You don't need Kubernetes and all the other orchestration tools for everything. It works for that use case pretty well.

The solution as a whole serves a very good purpose.

The UI is very useful. We can look at all the remote repositories of the images and the volumes and containers. It shows all the images along with the total size. There is a huge difference by looking into the terminal and the UI.

The product's most valuable feature is cloud simulation to predict application behavior on the cloud. It helps us with setting images and deploying them without a need to certify applications in the Kubernetes environment. We can work in a cloud-managed environment. It allows us to focus on testing properly.

The most valuable feature of Docker is by far is creating your own image. By creating your own image, you can have an environment for whatever you are working on that is exactly how you want it.

The idea that you can create a machine this quickly, use it, destroy it if you want, build upon it, take things out, and rebuild very quickly is very useful.

For example, you could add a command that installs a certain tool to your Dockerfile and build that image. Your image now has that tool. If you want to get rid of that tool, you just get rid of the line from the Dockerfile, rebuild the image, and it’s like you never installed that tool.

It gives you a feeling of complete control. By comparison, doing the same thing with something like Vagrant would take a lot of time. With Docker, building an image is so fast that it’s practically disposable.

We have only just begun our research here in Venezuela. We are studying this technology.

It has promised to solve several issues here in Venezuela if we can encapsulate the legacy applications using it.

If we compare legacy application support to Docker, it's a superior product.

I like that Docker's main products of containers are very portable. Any possible issues, problems, or troubles are fixed with improvements of the Docker itself. Any constraints that Docker have been fixed with other products or features that Docker provides.

The solution is very easy to use. It is intuitive and has good documentation.
