Moogsoft Initial Setup

Moogsoft doesn't require anything because we get the instance and deploy it for multiple tenants in our instance. It is plug-and-play. You do not need to do a lot of stuff on your own. Also, it's easy to integrate.

Installing Moogsoft requires moderate effort, as it's not overly complex but does demand some expertise. Users should understand databases and Linux file systems well to ensure a smooth installation process. While it's not overly complicated, having an experienced individual handle the installation is recommended.

The tool's maintenance is smooth and easy.

I haven't done the implementation of Moogsoft myself because I use it as part of corporate shared services. I'm sure I'm not the best person to answer how easy the implementation was. For my team to use it, it is straight-forward in that no one has made any comments about it being difficult to create the initial setup.

The multitenancy is a key element for what we want to do and I'm not sure how well that will work. If I am working with complex analytics that needs to work. Large organizations like ourselves where we have 100,000 devices. The solution will not be managed just by one team. You need to be able to have the security setup in a way that the process works. Really the complexity probably has more to do with the size of the organization than the product.

The initial setup is very straightforward. You just have to untar the given file. It will create all the directories itself, and you just have to run the process. It will intercommunicate with all the related processes and will start them itself.

Deployment should not take more than two or three days, even if you are very new to the Moogsoft. If you have hands-on experience, it will hardly take one day.

We are a service provider company, and we use Moogsoft for different customers. We don't use it for ourselves.

I was not involved in the installation, but from what I understood from my implementers and my support team, it is easier than Netcool/OMNIbus to implement.

The initial setup was okay. There was a procedure to follow and we had no issue with it.

We set it up in an organization that has over 50,000 servers, so it was definitely a complex setup. It was, however, because of the number of nodes that we weren't monitoring. So the setup is not complicated in itself, but if you are going to monitor enterprise IP systems you end up monitoring tens of thousands of data points and that makes it complex.
