Moogsoft Other Advice

Our maintenance is specific to our instance offered to our customers and customers. On the platform side, we lie totally on Moogsoft. It has a very good support. We do have our weekly meetings with their technical team. If any issues or support are required, their support is readily available on very short notice.

We have a team of ten developers to take care of the solution.

We are a managed service provider. We are offering the solution as a platform to our end customers. We are very aggressively proposing this solution to our end customers and hoping to grow the overall user count on the platform.

Moogsoft is straightforward to use and deploy. I recommend the solution.

When it comes to visualization, most products have visualization, which helps us to see the underlying components inside a particular service or application. It should troubleshoot the stack part where the problem lies, and visualization is easy to understand.

Moogsoft still lacks visibility in aspects like Service Map creation. Although it can be created, extra effort is required to develop such functionalities, unlike other tools that offer readily available solutions. This absence becomes a common differentiator, wherein Moogsoft falls behind other products that highlight their capability to pinpoint problem areas and affected components and conduct root cause analysis. This gap places Moogsoft a step behind the competition.

Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

On a scale from one to ten, with one being worst and ten being best, I would rate Moogsoft a little lower than I expected when we originally adopted the product. The marketing is extremely good and sophisticated, but for me, it actually oversells the product. Because of that, I would rate it a six out of ten.

As far as advice that I would give to others who are looking into implementing Moogsoft, I would either recommend it or not depending on what they are looking for it to do. It really depends on what they want to be monitoring. For example, if they want availability monitoring, performance monitoring, capacity monitoring, security monitoring, data quality monitoring — there are so many elements of monitoring that need to be weighed and considered. Other questions will be if this will be a solution for the infrastructure, is it a business process, is it for application monitoring.

The dimensions are quite big, I think when you come back to the other question of what would I want to see from Moogsoft. In all those fields which I mentioned, you can build a matrix out of that. One dimension is the type of monitoring and the other is infrastructure, another is the application and business process. The user will really have to have a mapping of their approach on how they think they want to implement it. Capabilities that Moogsoft has could be way more powerful, but compared to the competitors, I think it is actually doing quite well.

So maybe my expectation is very high. I came up with a rating of six considering my expectations. But comparing the competitors, I might give it an eight. That is how I see it, and what I expect from a monitoring solution. So it's either an eight or a six. It depends on how your question was meant.

I would rate this solution 7 out of 10.

They have so many AI features, but those features aren't as impactful as Moogsoft demonstrates in their videos or as they suggests you use them. "If you use this feature, this much noise reduction will happen." We have observed that this doesn't happen on the ground.

Tempus is a time-based algorithm feature. Suppose if some flooding has happened or something goes down. Obviously, hundreds of thousands of alerts will be there in your system. Tempus will activate and will put all those alarms into a single situation. We activated it, but then we found its behavior is not normal. Sometimes, it doesn't behave perfectly.

Whatever AI capability they have included, it still requires lots of improvement in their algorithm.

My advice is to be an expert in JavaScript, because this is the main language, programming, or rules language that we use, which Moogsoft supports for development.

My advice is don't learn Moogsoft only. Look around and learn about the freeware, open-sources software which Moogsoft is using, like RabbitMQ because in case RabbitMQ goes down or its message bus or database malfunctions, you will not get support from Moogsoft.

They can help you, but only to some extent only. If the database is corrupted and it requires some expert advice to troubleshoot it, there will be no support from Moogsoft.

I would definitely recommend this solution to other interested companies. It's a very good product. When one is wanting to look for a quick solution rather than building it, Moogsoft is easily deployable and ready to use — that's how I feel.

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Moogsoft a rating of seven.

Integration support needs to be scaled up at a much higher pace — the integration with other tools. Also, the documentation and flexibility for generic integration could be improved.
