Mule Anypoint Platform Initial Setup

I would rate my experience with the initial setup on-premises an eight out of ten, where one being difficult and ten being difficult to set up.
The initial setup is very easy. However, I only deal with application deployment using Anypoint Platform, which is easy.
View full review »The initial setup is pretty straightforward. I rate the ease of setup a nine out of ten. It took us two or three weeks until the first integration started. The deployment was pretty quick. We needed one engineer for deployment. Maintenance requires less than a tenth of an FTE’s time. For new users, it was easy to set up and deploy new APIs to test them. We see fairly quick results.

In MuleSoft, there is something called Anypoint Runtime Fabric or RTF Kubernetes, allowing the product to be deployed on Kubernetes from Azure, AWS, or some other solution provider. CloudHub provides all the required environments for infrastructure for deployment to users. In CloudHub, a user just needs to pay for the infrastructure and leave it. For on-premises deployment, users need to take care of the configurations, and when deploying the Mule Anypoint Platform with RTF Kubernetes, users may need to seek help from someone who processes experiences in Azure Kubernetes and MuleSoft, making it one of the challenges a user faces when setting up the product in a particular environment. When users go ahead with RTF Kubernetes configurations in their infrastructure, there is a need to have someone with experience in both Kubernetes and MuleSoft.
The solution is deployed on the cloud, hybrid cloud, and on an on-premises model.

The initial setup of the Mule Anypoint Platform is straightforward. We have done the setup in the cloud and on-premise, and if you follow the steps that are recommended then it is easy.
I have not done deployment myself, but if you start from scratch on a blank server, it can take approximately two to three days for everything to be completed.
I rate the initial setup of the Mule Anypoint Platform a four out of five.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup an eight out of ten.
View full review »Regarding Mule Anypoint Platform's installation, I can say that since we use the SaaS platform, we didn't face any issues with the installation of SaaS modules.
Mule Anypoint Platform is a SaaS system. The platform is available, so you just configure it and don't need to deploy anything. You just have to configure whether you want high availability, DR, or anything else. Otherwise, there is nothing much to deploy since it all falls on the SaaS capabilities.
We have only three engineers required for the configuration and adaptation of the product.
The initial setup is very simple and straightforward. It's not overly complex or difficult.
If you're deploying your cloud hub, then it takes time to deploy. That said, if you have that setup on your private crowd, then it takes a couple of seconds or a couple of minutes. It's very fast.

I would give a seven out of ten for the easiness of the initial setup. The deployment takes about two minutes which is acceptable. We handle deployment ourselves. We use tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo and it can be time-consuming since it initially involves scripting.

The initial setup is complex as there is no documentation that can guide you. There are professionals to help but they charge a lot.

We used DevOps to deploy. We have set up the pipelines on Azure.
I haven't deployed any directly, but deployments can be done within minutes.
It is easy to set up. We have excellent documentation on the deployment and configuration steps.

Generally, deployment of one API wouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes. We use CICD DevOps for our deployment strategy and it's carried out in-house. We use this product continuously and extensively.

The setup was pretty straightforward. I actually got very good support. On the presale, post-sale and to this day, we have a very interesting and kind of unique relationship with MuleSoft. I can see from the difference in our service than they maintain with other customers.
The product doesn't require the installation of agents.

If a company already has a DevOps pipeline, it won't take long to deploy everything.
No one is needed for maintenance really. A developer can do it if the DevOps pipeline is already decided.
View full review »The initial setup is quite easy because the solution has a good interface through which the configuration, mapping, and so on can be done. The initial DevOps setting up takes some time, but once that's done, it's easily manageable.

We had some issues with the initial setup. It's a balancing act and it requires some basic technical knowledge. It took some time to debug. We initially carried out a manual deployment and then used the Azure DevOps tools to do the automation. We used Ansible for the deployment.

It is pretty easy. If it is an on-premises deployment, then you need to set up a few things. If it is a cloud deployment, there is nothing to set up. The RTF deployment is quite complex, and it has some prerequisites.

In terms of initial setup, if it is cloud based, it is very simple. If it is on-premise it is complex.
An on-premise setup requires special skills and you need a lot of professional services.
Very quick and easy. An environment (development, test, UAT and production) can be set up in a couple of hours on an on-premise infrastructure or private Infrastructure as a Service compute cloud.
