Tricentis NeoLoad Valuable Features
Over the last eighteen months, our focus has primarily revolved around tool selection, procurement, Proof of Concepts (POCs), approval and implementation. Recently, we have successfully implemented the solution and are currently delving into its features. The key features of Neoload are:
- Utilization of Tosca Functional automation test scripts for executing performance tests, resulting in significant time savings and ease of script reuse with minimal modifications.
- A shallow learning curve - no prerequisite programming language or performance testing expertise is necessary to operate this tool. We provided training to our technical, functional, and testing teams for seamless utilization.
- Reduced effort for script maintenance when compared to alternative performance testing tools.

What I found best in Tricentis NeoLoad is that it's better with scripting and load test execution in the load testing environment compared to its competitors. The tool has a better design, scenarios, and model, which I find helpful.
I also found the Result Manager a fascinating part of Tricentis NeoLoad because of the way it collates results and presents reports.
The straightforward implementation of Tricentis NeoLoad, including ease of use, is also valuable to my team.

The most valuable features of the solution are visible when we work on web services in our company since it seems to be much more competitive in nature when compared to LoadRunner. When we work on certain protocols in our company in Tricentis NeoLoad, we find it much better than LaodRunner. Tricentis NeoLoad is comparatively faster and quicker when compared to LoadRunner.

I have also worked on LoadRunner Micro Focus and JMeter, and when it comes to scripting, NeoLoad is more user-friendly. The capturing of dynamic variables is very simple in NeoLoad and doesn't require the writing of exclusive functions. It's a matter of drag and drop, or choosing an option. Scripting those applications is not a challenging process. NeoLoad is about half the price of JMeter and serves the same purpose. It also has the benefit of mobile integration frameworks which are already in place with the help of APIs.

The product has enhanced features that let us cut down the script development and maintenance time. We can quickly correlate the values and create the scripts. When there are changes to our application, the maintenance becomes easier. The dashboards are readily available after the executions. The dashboards give extensive statistics, which help with quick report preparation and analysis.
View full review »NeoLoad offers better reporting than most competing tools. It is effortless to analyze and measure the reported data. It's also simple to generate a report that most people can read and management can understand. NeoLoad helps you figure out the main issues inside the application.

Each of the main components - design, runtime, and results - are unique in their own way.
The design offers four components: user part (which is where we would be creating and enhancing scripts while implementing things like pacing, think time, and error handling concepts), servers (which is where we have the service testing of API testing), population (which is where we can plug scripts, create multiple populations, and perform bandwidth testing), and monitors (which is a server-side where we can add credentials to a database or server via SSH details).
Runtime allows us to create scenarios, populations, low variation policies, load generators, and custom load profiles. Other functions include graphs, templates, check alerts, set alerts, check response time, etc.
The results tab provides us with the NeoLoad report which we can segregate.
View full review »The two standout features for us are:
- Team Server Collaboration - as is the case with many MNCs like ours, teams/team members are spread geographically at various locations. The Team Server module is a boon for such teams as multiple users can work on the same project simultaneously and check-in the changes. It also helps manage and allocate virtual users (of shared license) for execution of multiple projects at same time.
- Results & Analysis - NeoLoad provides comprehensive results for any load test. The results can be drilled-down to minute levels (from scenario level all the way to individual request level) of any transaction which makes root cause analysis very effective. NeoLoad can also consolidate results from different sources and the results are graphical (one can build custom graphs for any transaction) and colourful for easier interpretation.
Other advantages are
- GUI driven recording makes it easier to record and prepare test scenarios without need for extensive coding knowledge thereby enabling tool users to ramp up faster
- Supports a ton of protocols plus additional plugins such as Jenkins, AppDynamics, etc.
- Custom scripts and frameworks can be built
- Recording and simulating mobile applications is simple yet realistic

The licensing cost is very less for NeoLoad. It is user-friendly and easy to understand because they have created so many useful functionalities. When I started working with this tool, we just had to do the initial assessment about whether this tool will be able to support our daily work or not. I could easily understand it. I didn't have to search Google or watch YouTube videos. In just 15 to 20 minutes, I was able to understand the tool.
We can easily do scripting with NeoLoad. We just have to understand the basic functionality to create a script. There is not that much effort that we have to put in. If I have to transfer knowledge to a new person or a beginner, he will also be able to pick it up quickly.
NeoLoad is actually really good, mainly because they have a world-class support service.
View full review »The scalability, support protocols, and features of Tricentis NeoLoad made it easy and straightforward for us to complete the same tasks for our customers in the server cloud. We had to verify the certificate and attach the file within a protocol, which was a challenge in the server cloud.
From a functional perspective, the range of tools provided with Tricentis NeoLoad is perhaps the widest.

It's got a number of valuable features, the best of which I think are the mobile testing capabilities. It allows for load testing to make sure users can experience apps properly and checks for performance issues on the server side.
I particularly like Neoload’s ease of use, built in monitoring and their extensive library of wireless devices and protocols. We are able to simulate various wireless communication standards such as 3G, 4G etc. with ease.

My company has a good experience with Tricentis NeoLoad, and what I like best about it is that it lets you generate loads from different geographies. The load generation agents getting placed on different geographies is a very good feature of the solution.
I also like that you can scale up Tricentis NeoLoad very quickly.
The general feedback on performance testing with Tricentis NeoLoad for all product lines within my company is good.

The most valuable feature is flexibility, as it connects to all of the endpoints that we need it to.
It's user-friendly, and everything is handy, with scripting load testing and everything in a single tool. In LoadRunner, we have to use the controller for all those things.
- Flexible license model
- Cloud integration
- Native mobile application testing
We appreciate that this solution is very user-friendly, even if the user does not have a lot of protocol knowledge and experience.
In the application, if it's a web application, I could see so many requests will be recorded. It will be a little clumsy with many request correlations and many things that need to be handled in JMeter since it consists of sub-requests and internal requests. So many things will be recorded, actually.
But when it comes to NeoLoad, the maintenance will be easy. Then, whatever is required, those requests will be recorded. For example, in the same flow, JMeter, I could see maybe 35 to 40 requests. In NeoLoad, I could see only 20, but it won't miss any requests. It will bundle them as a single request. And then, it's pretty much straightforward for a performance tester, basically, to go through, and it is time-saving while using NeoLoad. The interface is easy.
I like the solution’s performance and integration. Also, the tool’s help center is very responsive and helpful. They have always helped me within a short duration of time.

I feel that the codeless part, the dynamic value capture part is quite easy in NeoLoad compared to other tools. JMeter is a little bit tough, but LoadRunner gives you many features. For any codeless value, it is easy to detect from the NeoLoad side.

Wasted time in low-end work (scripting) is greatly reduced with NeoLoad. It enables my team to record and modify test scripts very quickly. This reduces the effort for testing and enables the team to do more high-value work like analysis of results. We use external data analytics tools (Tableau) for result analysis. The export raw data feature in NeoLoad provides the extension with Tableau.

View full review »It is convenient to be able to keep up the pace in which the application code was delivered to us. Since we manage nearly 500-600 applications and we need to make sure they are tested, we wanted something robust with an option to check against previous baselines with minimal human intervention without sacrificing criteria.
We wanted something with less risk when incorporating or shifting scripts.
The fact that it loads from an external cloud is a plus as well.
It took just a few minutes to set up Neotys Cloud, as opposed to a few days with other solutions.

- Integration of all components in one place.
- GUI-based requests
- Ease of use compared with other performance tools.
All-in-one product (design, runtime, results), easy scripting and variable correlation, and load generators deployed all around the world to simulate global traffic.
View full review »It makes it easy to create load tests. We used HP LoadRunner previously, and this is far better.
View full review »The support for HTTP, JMS, REST API, and XBAP protocols is good. NeoLoad is very user friendly and works well with HTTP and REST AO’s. It's very effective during cloud based testing and the cost is a fraction of LoadRunner. v5.1.4 introduced the JMS testing protocol which is a copy of SOAP UI. I was pleasantly surprised that with a little tweaking and support from Neotys, NeoLoad worked with XBAP applications very efficiently.
View full review »The ability to test mobile applications, support cloud based testing, real-time monitoring during a test, advanced auto-correlation feature, infrastructure monitoring, detailed results reporting etc. It also gives the ability to manipulate the script by inserting JavaScript. It's one of the features that very few other tools have.
View full review »In my opinion, correlation of dynamic data is the most important advantage of this tool. Normally, it is difficult to record performance scripts, but with this tool it is much easier.
View full review »The ability to quickly record and correlate a script very quickly with a lower learning curve. A complex LoadRunner script could take days to create, but the same script in NeoLoad could be created within hours. We had contractors coming in, and within months they were able to script and start contributing to the team very quickly due to the simplicity of this software.
NeoLoad has the ability to compare a test report to a previous run. We can easily compare to see if this new code base is performing better or on par with the previous code base.
- The load testing support for different specialized products.
- It has great reports and provides us with good flexibility.
- The product support was from Neotys was good.
Script designing and "free" network emulation are the most valuable features for us.
View full review »- The GUI based scripting. Other tools are more script/code oriented. This is a huge time saver for us since we don’t have a dedicated performance team (yet). I can create scripts quickly and get tests going.
- The comparison report feature is good for pre/post-change result comparisons.
- The ability to write custom JavaScript actions. This has allowed us to handle JSON posts in web requests, which has been great.
- LAN/WAN emulator has been great in being able to simulate remote locations in their network connections.
- It ties into Dynatrace out of the box which we’ve used for deep-dive application performance testing as well as defining business transaction SLAs.
- The ability to create custom Frameworks for correlation values of custom, in-house apps.
- Codeless scripting
- Easy correlation
- Features for mobile such as WAN emulation collaboration with Perfecto
- The easy of flagging requests while performing manual correlation.
- Its integration with various monitoring tool.
- Ease of creation population mimicking various browser emulations and network profiles.
It gives us the ability to quickly script a load test scenario and to develop complex testing scenarios. If you ever want to know more about your application, just recording a session can be invaluable.
