For the setup, we had one person from the customer IT who coordinated with the network team and got the proxy opened, and then tested connectivity between the on-premise site and New Relic data center.
Later on, we had one person for configuration because sometimes, we also did data masking when we wanted to mask certain data. We didn't want that feed to go to the New Relic data center. We didn't want that data to be exposed. To query the system, there were queries available in the New Relic documentation, and we used to follow that. We also had a customized dashboard. We could prepare our own dashboard for our critical use cases such as payments.

Initial setup was done by New Relic, but we did later installations ourselves.

The IT department took care of deploying New Relic APM. The implementation was in-house, and New Relic gave my company a server similar to a one-of-a-kind setup tool that you can install within half a day.

Our own team handled the initial setup.
View full review »While it's my understanding that our in-house London team handled the implementation, I can't say if they needed help or recruited consultants or integrators to assist in the process.

The AWS integration was seamless for us. It was implementing stuff that other people have done so many times before, and the team which headed it up knew what they were doing. From my understanding, there was very minimal configuration. Maybe there was more on the New Relic side, but as far as feeding it, it was pretty easy.

I did all the configuration, so there is a portion where we install an agent on our infrastructure and on our web services that run. I did all of that configuration. They gave me the account ID and the license to go with it, and I configured that in some of their config files, then I knew exactly where to send the logs to, etc.

We implement the solution in-house for customers and offer both on-premises and cloud options.
I prefer the on-premises option because I like to configure and set things up rather than using ready-to-go options.
The solution does not require ongoing maintenance because it works fine and runs with no troubles.

One person can do the implementation. However, depending on how many devices you have it could require a little more work. There are third-party scripts that are available to install New Relic Insights across all devices.
In AWS or Azure, we have a root command that can select multiple devices making the process easier.
There was zero maintenance needed for New Relic Insights, it automatically updates.
