Regarding the solution, be clear on the consequences of writing your own configuration files; that's one part that was really cost-intensive and time-consuming for us. Also, really understand the licensing model, because we underestimated that.
I would rate this solution a six out of ten.
View full review »NGINX App Protect secures our company's application, and it has helped me a lot, considering that we have critical infrastructure in India where we see how lots of attacks come onto our organization's servers. The tool offers protection against multiple threats present in India's IT ecosystem. The tool helps our company to make our payments secure, meaning it has the ability to provide a secure payment environment in India.
Speaking about the improvements in our company's application performance since implementing NGINX App Protect, the gRPC support for the solution is very low. My company is not getting any proper documentation on how to deploy gRPC over NGINX App Protect.
I recommend the product to those who plan to use it. People can use the product as their company's base server, WAF, or for its proxy manager, depending on the business requirements.
My company follows PCI DSS compliance because we operate in a payment-related industry. Right now, my company follows all the standards, so we comply with all the requirements and policies.
I rate the tool an eight out of ten.
You need to have a good analysis before implementing the product. The analysis phase is the most important.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Based on my experience, this solution is better than the other choices on the market.
I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
NGINX App Protect's high price and limited support options can be a drawback. While troubleshooting basic issues is manageable, resolving advanced problems through paid support channels can be expensive and experience delays.
I recommend the solution if the client has no financial issues regarding their WAF or LTM solutions. Still, if they are budget constraints, one should think of other options like Fortinet.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

My advice for anybody who is implementing this solution is to plan well. You have to make sure that you plan ahead and know what it is that you want to achieve, then gather all of the relevant information. Otherwise, if you start to configure it and then find out that you don't have the right application server, or the right policy, or the proper certificate to install and configure it, then the installation will be very long. On the other hand, if the plan is very good and you have all of the details in advance, along with the right people to test it, then it should be straightforward.
I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

We are a partner with F5. I am currently evaluating Prisma Cloud because they have a WAF option on Palo Alto and I'm looking into it. But, aside from Prisma, I've never seen the WAF. So I'm attempting to make some comparisons in order to learn the Prisma side and see how it works with NGINX. I downloaded a document to get a head start on it and to form an idea for now.
I would rate NGINX App Protect a seven out of ten.

I would recommend getting your deployments before you jump into buying or trying out this solution. Have a clear road map for your deployments and your future solutions. The solution has a rich feature set but on the down side is the issue with the high throughputs.
I would rate this solution an eight out of 10.
