What is most valuable?

The solution is very convenient and easy to use. I tend to use it for personal use, and I also use it for testing the Fortnox platform and it works very well. The starting and stopping of the machine are much faster than other solutions… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is lower for VirtualBox. It's much cheaper than VMware, for example, which has very high pricing in comparison.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've previously worked with VMware and Workstation. In those cases, the starting and stopping of the machine took far too long. Oracle is much faster.

We're just Oracle customers. We don't have any business relationship with the solution. We're using the latest version of the solution. While I can recommend the solution for personal use, in a professional context, I've never actually… more»

What is most valuable?

KVM is a very good solution for the user ecosystem. The KVM service is well managed with a central policy interface.

What needs improvement?

The initial setup of this solution is more difficult than some of the competing products and it could be improved. I would like to be able to see virtual networking integrated with the virtual machine.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using VMware prior to KVM. It is a very reliable and very strong solution, but it is also very expensive. We are switching to try and reducts cost both in terms of licensing and managing.

What other advice do I have?

The most important thing for people to do when they are researching this kind of solution is to try and understand the main reason and concerns behind virtualization.
