What do you think of vSphere?

Valuable Features The features we most value are: High availability (in ESXi) Disaster recovery (via SRM) Self-service portal via vRealize automation • Improvements to My Organization The solution has helped us to achieve the following: Faster time to market our services Lower overall TCO • Room for Improvement Commercially, the stock keeping units have changed with the latest iteration of the product. • Use of Solution We have been using the solution for five years. • Stability Issues We had some stability issues but VMware support has made the experience manageable. • Scalability Issues We did not have any scalability issues. • Customer Service and Technical Support I would rate the technical support as 8/10 mainly due to the speed in delivering...

What is most valuable?

One valuable feature would be for it to work right the first time but it doesn't necessarily do that. The shop that I'm in and the shops that I've been in, I've never been in a shop that was standardized on Virtual Box.

How has it helped my organization?

What needs improvement?

I think part of the reason is, is a lot of people do not trust Virtual Box because they think it's buggy. It seems to be a theme here. I got into it and it was buggy enough that I didn't want to continue using it.

What is most valuable?

The simplicity and intuitiveness of the platform. It was a very simple adaptation, if you have any experience in virtualization.

Just to be able to efficiently utilize our power hardware. Gone are the days of one pizza box for a two-core CPU. You've got dozens of cores in one box, and you can't use them all if you just run one thing on one server, so you've got to... more»

What needs improvement?

There is a hard limitation of 20 gigs per file with Dropbox, so you've got to overcome that by chunking the zip files into something smaller and manageable. But that's going to depend on the bandwidth. You can have an adverse effect as well,... more»
