Oracle E-Business Suite improved my organization by automating every function and integrating all departments. For example, HR is integrated with Finance through the payroll module. Inventory is integrated with Finance through the inventory module. Plant maintenance is integrated with the stores and spheres, so there's a single source of truth across the organization. There's no need to maintain separate databases, software, or functions within the organization through Oracle E-Business Suite.

My organization uses the same source of truth, so there's less hassle and more accurate information, making decision-making easier because of this solution.

As we've recently gone live with Oracle E-Business Suite, we won't be able to say what has improved, but we used to have a lot of manual processes before switching to Oracle E-Business Suite. Now, pretty much, we've done complete end-to-end automation, so there will be savings in terms of automating manual processes, but we haven't quantified that for now.

Reporting and MIS reporting is very useful in the E-Business Suite. Without the solution, it always took a lot of time because of so many duplicate supplier data settings.

After 2009, supply chain management became more important, and we really started thinking about how quickly we could get the product to our customers. When we thought about becoming a global supply chain organization, the number one goal was how we could clean our data, how we can identify our master data. Previously, IT used to own the data, but we are trying to change that process where the data is owned by the business and IT is just there to provide a service.

That's where governance comes into the picture. Not just the implementation of the master data management, but identifying the functional data owner for each and every master attribute, and having a discussion within the governance team.

Sr. Director, Systems & Databases at GTech

EBS is a software as a whole. It includes its own database (Oracle Database), an application server (Oracle Weblogic), and software. It has cross-industry capabilities and makes customers operate in cost-efficient way.  As an ERP system, EBS offers lots of applications built in. So it helps the customer to automate their back office processes and let them make correct, fast, and reliable decisions. In Human Capital Management implementations, customers benefit from having a complete HR system and do all the HR work using the EBS screens. By customizing the product, customers can make the application processes be compatible with their special needs. Localization and translation options are also available with the product. Although the software is built by an American company (Oracle), other languages can be enabled and localization can be deployed without touching any code. With these features that support having a global software environment, customers who are working worldwide also gain an advantage.

Using EBS features like Oracle workflow, lots of the processes are automated and made easier. Mobile Web Applications can be used to make the relevant users be able to use the applications directly. Successful implementations, success stories, big install base, know-how and continuous support of the community (Oracle itself and EBS consultants), make the customers feel safe. With the integrated service oriented architecture gateway (SOA Gateway) of EBS, EBS APIs can be triggered outside (from Cloud or from other applications).. This feature lets customers be able to integrate their application with EBS easily. When core business needs something from the back office, it just uses SOA Gateway to retrieve the meaningful data from EBS. All the technology and software is from Oracle. This is also very important to be able to get single vendor support when required. The technology stack is built on Oracle Technologies. It is not hard to find an expert when needed both for development and administration.

When I put these aside, EBS saves time and increases the efficiency for the customers.  By using the tightly integrated application of EBS, customers, provide the solutions for their business from a single source. The ultimate application design, high-level software engineering and power of the Oracle technologies delivered with the product are felt at any moment.

We needed to use financial software, anyway. I think it comes from the historical fact that we had Oracle software; we always had Oracle Database. So, from a licensing point of view, it made perfect sense. It integrates well.

We have a very strong presence from the PL/SQL developers point of view. We have good resources. We have a lot of in-house developed software and it has to integrate with Oracle. We do a lot of invoicing and so on feeding into the Oracle EBS system from our in-house system.

It was natural. The system is naturally a good fit, actually.

It has improved the way we worked. Everything is now on a very well-centered database. Before, we would have things saved on Excel, but it would be on different versions, or someone would have it saved on e-mail, and it would not be saved as an Excel file. It became frustrating. On Excel it is definitely harder to keep things. With so many people in the company, everybody had his own version. Definitely that created a big disconnect. The Oracle E-Business Suite was not able to get reports. It was not able to get the connectivity. Now, we can use this solution to streamline the documentation and products of our organization.

The punch-out capabilities to other vendors e-commerce sites for shopping. The county does not need to manage catalogue content. All information is exchanged electronically including purchase orders and invoices, this automation has improved county efficiencies.

Prior to Oracle, the county procurement system was antiquated and individuals typed orders on a typewriter or filled out paper forms. Orders were faxed to suppliers and delivered to a central county warehouse that farmed out orders to departments. The county was dependent upon a 20+ year old mainframe system and there was no integration between the procurement and financial systems.

With Oracle, the county switched from paper-based purchasing to an automated solution which allows departments to place orders and receive within days or a week. The Purchasing department was centralized and allows the county the ability to better manage contracts and negotiate better prices. The purchasing operations were fully integrated with back office financial systems.

As far as the UI is concerned, over the years, you'd have to go through multiple tabs to put a transaction in. Now, you can go to one screen and have the options right in front of you. This solution offers customization. We have the ability to change and add our custom solutions and integrate them with the standard ones.

These modules are integrated together. HR files are integrated with the supply chain files, e.g. employees are defined on the HR module. You can use this solution as a buyer or as a supplier, and it has a file server. Transferring files is integrated with HR, and the files would be applied to the employees. It can be used and it can uptake the accounts and copy them to the server, and all of the modules could be integrated together.

The solution has helped the organization in a multitude of ways. For example, it has really helped with the way we manage retail orders. The automation of retail and dealer order management has helped us a lot. It is one big use case that's a good example of the transformation that's possible with this product. Previously, the order management was manual. Currently, it has been automated to such a degree that a dealer can simply go to a portal, and actually make a payment. The payment reflects right in the system. After making the payment in the system, the dealer is able to make an order. Within a matter of 10 to 20 minutes, he has his stock. There's an integration between the dealer self-service system to the ERP to inventory and even to the warehouse. Everything surrounding that is fully automated, thanks to Oracle Release 12.

They have provided a lot of front-end programs, with which we can import data from different systems. Data from various systems comes through a single system. Then, from that data, we can generate the reports. That one single system gets data from many downstream systems.

The main thing is, if you want additional functions or any customization, you can also do that on top of the product. That route is more beneficial.

With reports, we have various options. We can generate reports in a particular format, and so on, with various options.
