During upgrades, plugins take on 2 different architectures - some are built as standard WebLogic composites, allowing hot upgrades and installation (meaning you don't have to have an outage for the OEM Management System (OMS) in order to complete the installation. Others are more complex requiring specific outage windows during which time the OMS will not be able to monitor targets (often the OEM Agents are still operating, and collecting information, but you need to develop standalone OS-based alerting on the individual boxes to leverage an individual Agent's ability to provide outage notifications when the OMS is down.) These OMS-downtime upgrades and installations can also be the most prone to potential failure during installation requiring complete system rollback to a backup point.
OAM is updated frequently and only incurs momentary downtime when sortware homes are being switched between pre- and post-patch versions. Agent patching is similar to on-premise, requiring no downtime.

I rate Oracle Enterprise Manager a nine out of ten for stability.
There were some issues with the software due to its resource requirements. Be careful to follow the recommended sizing guidelines.

The stability of Oracle Enterprise Manager is very good.
When it first came out, and I started using it, I was working for Oracle in Oracle Education. You could utilize it, and the SQL behind it to gather statistics was wrong. But they have that sorted out now, and things are looking up today.

View full review »The product is very stable and doesn't take up a lot of resources. We have seen products that work well in the short-term, but that cause more harm. What was supposed to be a small footprint, ends up chewing up all the box’s resources, whereas that's not the case with this product.

View full review »With Enterprise Manager, you've got a tool that's providing end-to-end administration and monitoring of your IT infrastructure. The tool, therefore, has to have a very smooth way to configuring so that it is highly available. This, of course, plays a very important role in functionality because you don't want the tool to be a single point of failure.
So Oracle has claimed that they've enhanced that part of Enterprise Manager. For me, that's important because as a data architect, I play a lot of roles and I've been able to configure the tool to have four nines of High Availability. If you have a tool that you depend on for monitoring and administrating your entire IT infrastructure, the last thing you want is for it to have an level of unavailability.

We have experienced some downtime in terms of performance. For example, when we carry out some complicated code, it usually times out; sometimes it goes beyond sixty seconds and that's frustrating for the users.

View full review »This product is around 80 percent stable; 20 percent we are working on enhancing the product.
View full review »It's fairly stable. It doesn't disappoint. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze.
View full review »It's a stable product. For the most part, they have quite a stable system. However, there are at times difficulties with the project server. They have a very big container program in their project server as Enterprise Manager is running in the project server. The old configuration was more difficult, and, in any case, users need to be precise with their configurations to ensure stability.
When I was administering the database using that EM, it was quite amazing. However, in terms of usability and other things, I can't say much because I haven't used it yet in a production line. So far, I haven't had issues with stability, but it's still too soon to tell.
My impression is that the stability of this solution is quite good. We've never had any issues and we've been doing prevention maintenance.

The stability of the product is excellent. It is sensitive to network issues, but the problem lies in the network, not EM12c.

I have not encountered any serious stability issues since version 13c.
View full review »It's been very stable. I don't recall any big issues with stability.
View full review »Multi-Data Center High Availability monitoring, alerting and management is the largest challenge as there is a single repository database that is located in a single data center, therefore running across multiple data centers still ties back to a single repository database which runs from one of the data centers, but can distribute the OEM Console and Management servers in each of the data centers. All this works without issue, but the repository traffic from multiple data centers can be a challenge going back to another data center where the repository database resides.

View full review »It's been stable. We haven't had any instability issues to speak of.
View full review »It is buggy in certain process, but every Oracle product has bugs, although unless you really hit it you would never really come to know about it. For example, one of the Java processes within OEM chews up the entire CPU. This is an obvious bug, but there is a patch that can be applied to correct the issue.
View full review »In terms of stability, I'm pretty confident. I'm very happy with the product.
View full review »The system has minimal issues with stability. The system has about 1500 databases currently.
View full review »There were no issues with stability.
View full review »Once the product is deployed, it is very stable. In fact by the definition of it being a management and monitoring utility, it must be highly stable and available. Enterprise Manager has self-monitoring features built in as well to notify administrators immediately if it is not available. There are a number of articles in My Oracle Support that show how to have other third-party products monitoring Enterprise Manager as well.

Oracle Enterprise Manage is stable.
View full review »It's too early to know about stability, because right now we have 12c and we're looking to go to 13c.
View full review »It's pretty stable. Once in a while, we do have agents which hang and we have to reboot the agents. But overall, it's pretty stable.
View full review »The product is very stable. The only thing that I find is that the agent isn't that stable. Even though the agent doesn't seem to be stable, you're still able to connect. I don't know why, but you are.
View full review »I think it’s stable. Every once in a while, it's kind of buggy, but for what it is, it's pretty good.
View full review »Stability on 13c has been fairly good. I haven't had any major issues with 13c where it's panic for no reason and just gone dead or anything like that. In 12, again, didn't really have any major stability issues there of it panicking or blowing up.

View full review »It is very stable. Once in a while, I see IT involved in a ticket but I don't think it happens all the time.
View full review »It is mostly stable, but we have found some issues when we are having resource contention or CPU issues. It is not easy to bring up the product because it is a bit of a resource hog. Sometimes when you need it the most, that is when you find it missing, but those are rare and far between.

Generally, it is pretty stable. Occasionally, one may run into errors that may be tricky to resolve without in-depth knowledge of the product or the help of Oracle Support.
View full review »Stability is good, but I can see only very small performance issues. When the system is very busy and I click a report, sometimes takes a little bit more time than I expected. If you fix those performance issues and best practices, I think it's an awesome tool.
View full review »The product is stable 99.9% of the time, but there are a few issues that need to be improved. I have noted that these issues are generally updated in a later version of the product, as and when it is released.
You should go with the latest version as it's more stable, and that's one of the reasons I like it. It's a pretty stable platform.

It is pretty stable. There are some pros and cons, but we compared it to other tools which are available for monitoring Oracle databases and other products, and what we found is this is one of the best.
View full review »My experience with the stability has been very good. I have not seen any issues. I use it for my own purposes, in a limited way, but I haven't come across any instability or not being able to access the data; it being down or anything like that.
View full review »Stability, as far as it was in a test environment, we did find a few issues. This was in Oracle Database 11g and it would just hang our systems. Thus, we didn't let it go to production.

OEM agents on database servers frequently stopped collecting data and had to be restarted.

Just on a few occasions agent connectivity to repository would fail resulting in “stuck” messages on the OEM screens, resolved itself overnight – weird?
