The performance of the product is second to none. There are not many products out there that can compete at the level they can. The only problem is that GoldenGate is very expensive. So, if people only want to use it for migrating into the cloud, for example, they could be laden with a lot of heavyweight software they never use.

The tool is generally highly reliable, although its performance is contingent on the specific environment it operates in. For instance, if the environment is not adequately configured or lacks necessary prerequisites, the tool's reliability may be compromised.

It is not a very stable tool, and you need to monitor it perfectly. Sometimes, I have faced some situations with the solution, owing to which I rate the solution's stability a six out of ten. It is not a very stable tool as sometimes it stops without any reason.

The stability depends on the manufacturers because GoldenGate still has some limitations. Depending on the user's data types, customer data types, or the platform source and target, it may affect the productivity of the entire system and the overall process. In fact, it could impact the stability. I would say that it has continuously improved over time. When Oracle switched from Streams to GoldenGate, the stability significantly improved.

Stability is relative because of the way you design the entire system. DCDR, high availability, all these things come into the picture. Stability depends upon the way the ecosystem or enterprise has been designed.

In earlier versions, DDL support was limited as well as the need of primary key constraints in the source tables. This made me create partitions, sub-partitions, truncate and perform other operations upon they are performed in source systems and I need to discuss with source system administrators and need to convince them to let them create primary keys for replicated tables

But both issues are solved now.

Oracle GoldenGate's stability is better if you follow the metrics for compatibility between software versions. If you follow all the metrics, Oracle GoldenGate's stability can be rated an eight to nine out of ten. However, you may face some bugs if you don't follow the metrics.

This is the tricky part. It's stable but you have to know how to maintain it. That's why it's not 10 out of 10 for me. There are some bugs, there are some issues here and there. All of a sudden your process is not working and you have to figure out why, and sometimes it's not so clear.

Maybe they can simplify it. You learn the tool, you learn how to work with it. Now we have a very stable environment but it took like a few months until it became stable.
